  1. Track player cards scene by scene

I was reading through one of the completed games (Smile for the Camera). When I clicked on the character images to see what class they were and such, instead of seeing what set of cards they had at the start of that scene, I instead saw the set of cards available for the character at the end of the game. This not only made it hard to see the build of the character at the time of the scene, but also contained spoilers for the story (eg, one of the assets listed it as a murder weapon for a character)

  2. Standalone Version of Storium for drafting

I'd love to see a standalone version of storium for new writers. Storium prevents many common pitfalls for beginning writers, such as the dreaded blank slate or uninteresting initial protagonist, and helps you have a really good mix of traits with which characters might address the plot. Additionally, it helps provide a great overview of which characters are overtaking the narrative, and what traits they might lean on too often. It forces you to showcase different traits of your MC's, rather than relying on a single one to solve most problems. In short, it provides a lot of great ways…

  3. creating premade characters starting with a list

When creating Premade Characters for a game, it would be nice to start with a list of characters in some way, rather than having to be forced to immediate choose or create character cards. For example, when planning out a story, a narrator might think, "Okay, my idea is 19th Century Ghost Debunkers and I have these three characters in mind, the Bungling Scientist, the Slippery Con Artist, and the Sensitve Medium." In other words, it would be nice to sketch out the concept within Storium rather than having to do it all outside of Storium.

  4. Assets linked to Outcomes

One scene. Two different outcomes. In each of them players can get different assets. How to manage this situation naturally (not giving them the cards afterwards) so they can pick up what they want depending the option they have chosen? Thanks.

  5. A/B scenarios

Sometimes (on purpourse or randomly) narrator would like to manage splitted scenarios for (at least) two different groups of characters. Is there any way of doing it? Thanks.

  6. Fix deleting cards

I can click "delete" from a list of cards (in this case, Goals), but it doesn't actually get removed, even after the confirmation window. I duplicated a card in error and now can't seem to get rid of the duplicate.

  7. Add a "For Readers" blurb to game setup

When browsing for something to read, it would be nice to have a short description of each game written specifically for readers, not to attract players. Just a single paragraph that shows up to the right (like the Featured games blurb does) or below (where the Game Description goes on the Looking for Players screen) on the Most Followed, Recent Activity, Newly Started, and Completed screens. This could be an optional thing for narrators to fill out, but I think it would really help people figure out at a glance if they wanted to read a story, where right…

  8. bookmark

Working off the bookmark concept. if each move were an HTML anchor, then you could save a bookmark which would effectively be pageurl#anchor.

  9. make games update when character slots open up

I understand that an unpaid account is necessarily limited but being unable to free up character slots makes trying the Storium service nearly impossible, especially for a first time user.

You know the story's name but don't want to search game by game in the lists (looking for players, newly started etc...). A search button would be great!

  11. Add "for" to your "tag as 18+" pop up prompt

    Hey all,

Your pop up prompt on "tag as 18+" is missing the word "for".

It should read "... or themes inappropriate FOR people under ..."

  12. Make it possible to have "guest star" characters.

Hi! So, I think that it would be a good idea for stories to have "guest star" characters that would be played by a user for a single scene. This would allow a lot more potential for depth and detail for characters that are only present for a single scene, which would be good for the narrator, players, story, and everyone on Storium.

This quote is from me on the #storium-chat on Slack on December 29, 2018:

"I think a good random example would be; I have a game, Game X, and I want a potential character in my game,…

  13. Allow hosts and narrators to share files with players.

I like to share pictures and word docs as well as sound files with my players to add to the experience. I think it makes it more engaging for them. The files don’t need to stay on the server and could be time limited but available for download and attached to a specific scene. For example allow me to create a “clues” card that has several documents attached to it and by making a move in that card they can download the attachments.

  14. give more details about, and word-processor functions to, moves/narrations

this includes, but is not limited to:

    • a running word counter at all times while you're typing a move, rather than the "x words left" that currently exists.

    • a note of how many words any individual move is, so people can get a better idea of what x words looks like before making a move.

    • buttons for italics, bold, etc, rather than memorization of formatting, even if said buttons just input the formatting necessary (i.e. asterisks, carrots, dashes, etc) for you.

  16. save fully formed challenges

I can only make the basic card of a challenge - I can not pre-write and save the outcomes. (I do by typing it on the card and then cut-and-paste but it is not ideal. I can also save in another medium but again, not ideal)
Why cant I save the whole thing with number of pips and outcomes, ready to play? I like to have things ready, so players are not waiting while I type things up!

  17. Where are you developers?

You say you'll try to interact more with the community, but then proceed to disregard the comment. We are not asking for a lot. Just pop in regularly, say a few things, take a few minutes of your day to do anything that signals that you are here. It's not hard! Especially now that StoriumEdu is released, I don't understand why this is so difficult. I suggest you check out the Hidden Community thread in the forums as well.

I am very grateful for what you've created, but come on! How hard is it? We're just asking for some interaction!…

Have a section for players where they can add private notes about their characters. It could be background information, secret subplot ideas, characters or cities they want to remember or more.

  19. Make notifications deleteable

I feel like people should be able to close/delete notifications; for example, things like 'It's time to make a move in X' or 'consider concluding the scene in X' aren't actually updates, which is what I feel notifications should primarily be, so I'd like to be able to remove those notifications from my list. Thank you :)

  20. Allow Open Lobby without listing game as Looking for Group

I like the idea of allowing a peanut gallery to comment on the game as it progesses. Maybe even offer suggestions or talk about the game as it happens. Like people watching a TV show together.

But leaving the Lobby open for this discourse also sets the game to Looking for Group, which will confuse people who are trying to find games. So as it is, it's not really going to work.
