Enable embedded video clips to serve same purpose as images.
I am a newbie to Storium and learning how it all works..but i have an idea based on the fact users can place images along with their stories..
There is a new webapp from Mozilla called Popcorn maker, basically in a nutshell this is like an online video editor where you can search for video clips on youtube and mash them together with other clips, be it have a several videos playing at once overlapped or single frame. The user can mute the audio, and run their own music over top (i think) this then can be shared and embedded etc. What would be nice is if the narrator can embed video instead of a picture or maybe having a window frame to the right where its more bigger sized (unless narrator can resize windows for images??).
The video clips should be suggested to be short like 30secs max, and only used maybe as an intro to a location or maybe someone makes a trailer for their story world to help again an audience or more players?
I know you can embedded youtube videos so that you can remove the logo and playbar, and not repeat or display suggested videos at the end. But there is an issue with choosing to set showinfo=0 and modestbranding=1 which causes the YT logo to display for a few seconds before disappearing. The solution is not to have showinfo=0 at all in the embed code.
Anyway, this idea might have to be tested to see if it wont be a distraction- but the video is short and when it ends- if an image could replace it would be nifty. This could be useful when a scene might be set in rainy night in the city or a smokey forest. There could be short cuts of moving images and should sort of be like miniature trailers. But this might not work- if it gets in the way of the writing. Worth a try out anyhow.
These video clips can be disabled for mobile devices.
An alternative to this idea is enabling animated GIF images if they are not already doable at present. This could be another alternative.
