Create a way to pause characters
One of my players needs time away from Storium in order to deal with Life, and it would be great to be able to pause his character until he gets back. "Retire" wouldn't work, since he will be returning, but it would be great to not have to juggle who has already played what cards and so how many challenges can I play before turning to a new scene.

Retired characters can now be unretired so if a player returns they are able to re-enter the story. Thanks!

agreed! this would be brilliant. it would also work if you could un-retire characters as suggested here: https://storium.uservoice.com/forums/211322-general/suggestions/5864021-allow-character-to-come-out-of-retirement-player (with more votes)
one benefit of this as well would be that people wouldn't have to keep seeing notifications for games they can't currently play in as well - especially useful if one of the reasons you are having to pause the game is because it is moving too fast and clogging up your notifications feed!
but this element could be easily avoided if we had the option to turn notifications off per game as well.

It would be really nice to put a player on a "Leave of Absence", it would be especially helpful if then their three cards that can be played during a scene were no longer counted so the narrator doesn't have to remember to calculate that in. I have two players on LOA's right now and I have to keep remembering to subtract six from the possible cards to be played when making my challenges.
