User Endrosements
I'm envisioning a user tagging system similar to what LinkedIn has started using for skills. Basically, you can suggest various skill you have (and other's can as submit new ones for your approval) and then other users can Endorse you for those skills. The more endorsements, the more people agree with you.
The system could work being either open (users submitting skills) or closed (a pre-populated bank of skills to select from).
This could help other users recognize people with similar play styles as well as identifying "problem" players by their lack of endorsements.

I like this idea, especially As it avoids the whole issue of 'disliking' or down voting. Other thought for 'skills': communicates with other players; good technical skills (I'm thinking about things like SPAG); creative; genre-savvy. I'm sure there are lots more, but these are the ones that pop to mind.

Scribophile, an online writing group, has a very interesting karma-based system. Users earn karma by critiquing others' writing, and they can't post their own work until they have amassed a karma balance of their own. Users also gain karma by other users thinking their critiques are constructive, encouraging, enlightening and/or thorough, or their forum posts interesting, educational, funny or insightful.
I recognise that this exact mechanism wouldn't work for Storium, but it is an example of a website that has really thought through its karma system and uses it to encourage and reward positive, active members of the community.

'Skills' everyone has available to rate should include...
Consistently Participates
Communicates With Narrator
Cooperative
FlexibleThese type of things would allow Narrators to get an idea if they would want that player in their game or not. People may have to take time off or may have to quit, but at least if they communicate with the Narrator about it, things can be managed better.
