  1. allow players to play cards without obstacle in the scene

I would like my players to be able to pick up assets and goal cards without having to have an obstacle in the scene. The way it is with limited challenge points, limited player moves, and the inability of players to play cards if there is no obstacle/character in the scene, scenes with small amounts of players are forced to be short and chopped (for a one narrator, one player scene, the player only ever has to make three moves to win control of the scene). Bigger challenges have to be spread across multiple scenes, even if they occur in…

  2. Put older games looking for players at the top of the pile as well as new games

I had a game that was only a few days old and a player quit, when I opened the game to new players it was already pretty low on the list. My work around was to make a clone game and when people applied invite them to the original but if there was a section for 'in progress but looking for players anyway' it would have been easier.

Games are listed on the Looking For Players page in order of when their applications are opened, so an older game will be listed at the top if applications are re-opened at any time. Thanks!

  3. allow users to delete invitations to players

So they no longer appear on the invited list with a status of "Deleted." Once in this state, they should be able to remove that entry completely.

    User Story:
As a user, if I delete an invitation to a player, I should be able to remove their invitation row from the table of invitations.

  4. De-request a revision

It would be nice if narrators could rescind a revision request, such as when players and narrator have talked it out and decided it's fine as is.

  5. Name Tabs

This is a really nitpicky webdesign thing, but it would be great if the actual title of the page appeared on the tab. I've got several open right now, and they all say "Storium". It'd be nice if they said, for example, the title of the story you were looking at, or "home page".

  6. Allow for deputies

Where you have several players who know roughly where the story is going, the narrator should be allowed to deputise them as moderators, or storytellers.

  7. Show Player Availability

I think it would be a great idea if Storium could somehow show players in a story which players are currently online and on the story page. This way you know who is readily able to respond to your comment in the chat window or you can avoid any awkward moments where you both begin writing for the same scene/challenge only to have one player be prevented from posting. Hopefully you can find a way to include this, if it's possible. Keep up the amazing work!

  8. Make a statement on Intellectual Property.

Both on the generated fiction from the worlds and the use of Intellectual Property (IP) within game worlds. The former is just good form, the later is to cover you guys in case Marvel or EA finds images from their comics and games here.

  9. Drop-down menu improvement

Add 'Stories' to the dropdown menu underneath the profile name. That way I can go directly to my stories from any page.

  10. Beginner game template

A simple beginner game template for new narrators and players would be useful. Something with an easy plot and helpful tips would make it easier to try out the mechanics. Starting a first game can be daunting even after reading all the instructions and looking at other games.

  11. show how many moves people have taken in a scene

So, I have a 4-player game going on where I ran into the whole "everybody seems to be waiting for someone else to move" thing. And when that player did, it triggered a flurry of action that's sort of left one player out of the scene.

It sheds light on a conundrum. You don't want everyone to be waiting too long for someone to post, but it also sucks if you constantly get scooped by folks who can post more frequently than you can. It's not a laggard thing, it's just that some folks are busy and really need to…

The Activity Summary at the bottom of the game page now lists each player’s activity, including how many moves they have each taken and how many cards they have played. This will allow everyone to see at a glance the general activity level and if there are any players being left out. Thanks!

  12. Normalize user name use.

Currently, usernames are used on the site to identify players, but real names are used in notification emails. It would be more consistent (and easier to keep track of who's who), if the same name was used in both places.

  14. Speed should be visible when browsing games

Speed should be visible to players that are browsing games so they don't try to join a game with expectations they cannot meet. This is not currently possible unless there is already a character accepted into the game and drilling down to the actual game page following several links.

  15. a way for narrators to easily track when a player last moved

A couple games have had a pretty slow pace, and it would be nice to easily find out when a player last moved.

  16. Create a meta-story that is a Tutorial.

Knowing that folks will try their best to read the instructions and still miss things, consider (you may already have this in the pipeline for launch) creating a game/story that is a meta-fiction which illustrates how to play fairly directly.

By using a quirky or comedic style, a kind of Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy approach, you could end up with a story that's interesting as well as being entirely self-referential. Perhaps someone awakens to find themselves trapped in the fiction, and has to decide what to do next. before them lie these cards...

    Anyhoo!

  17. Be able to see other pending characters after you've been approved.

This is only a minor pet peeve, but i've noticed that once you've been approved for a game, you cannot see pending characters any longer. While not necessary as a game mechanic, it does reduce frustration as you wait for the game to start...

After you’re approved for a game, you’ll have a link to that game on your homepage. Clicking it will take you to the game’s page, where you can view all of the other characters. You can also use commentary to talk to the other players, even if the game hasn’t officially started.

  18. make it easier to switch between active stories.

Some people have adopted a multiple tab method of switching, but perhaps having a tab at the top of the page or a sub tab under your username for specific stories to avoid returning to the Homepage every time.

The first ten games on your Homepage are now listed in the drop-down menu under player name so you can navigate to them at any time.

  19. Allow avatar after character approved

Unless I'm missing something, after a character is approved the player can't add an avatar. I understand this prevents a player from changing avatars during the campaign but it would be nice to have the option of adding an avatar if NONE was chosen during character creation. Sometimes a player forgets to add one.

  20. Ability to add links/resources to a scene

I'd like to add links to things like maps (or even images of a map) to a scene. Things that aren't challenges, but enhance the data the players have to build the scene.

Narrators can add links within scene continuations and are able to upload a picture with each continuation which can be clicked on to be viewed full size.
