  1. revisions - alter played cards

When a narrator requests a revision on a move, because the played cards don't match the description, the player should have the option to remove or alter cards in a move. So far a player can only add cards in a move.

Since the player can add cards, this might lead to more cards in a challenge being played, than needed for the challenge. If a player alters cards in a move targetted toward a challenge, all other player, who played cards toward that challenge should automatically have to revise their moves, too - or at least they should get…

In Gamma, players (and narrators) can change the cards played on a move, provided that the change doesn’t cause a conflict with cards already played later in the scene by others.

At the bottom of each email is a link where you can adjust your email settings. Among the available options is a daily digest. These settings can also be found on your Storium profile page.

  3. Individualized rewards.

I simply suggest a way for the narrator to hand out specific cards in specific numbers to specific players at will. Or to have there be rewards for completing a challenge beyond just cards anyone can pick up.

  4. Allow cards to be updated by Narrator

If a card has not been customized by the player on character creation, it would be nice if the player' scares could be updated as well when a narrator updates the cards in the world. If it would cause gameplay issues, then perhaps simply allowing image updates.

  5. Do we have to use a card to make a move?

I made a move and used a card, but then changed my mind. I tried to delete the card, but it won't let me publish the edited move. Does this mean that we absolutely MUST use a card?

You probably still have a Challenge selected. Remove the challenge as well, as you’ll be able to save. You don’t have to play a card in order to make a move, but if you select a Challenge you have to play a card on it.

  6. Leave off the (copy) from duplicate cards

It kind of defeats the point of trying to create duplicate cards so you can drop them as solo stacks for them all to have "(copy)" appended to the name so you have to go back in and edit them all anyway.

In Gamma you don’t have to make copies of cards anymore in order to give them to multiple players. When you give out a card, it remains in your hand, so you can just simply give it again. Hopefully that address the underlying problem you describe here.

  7. Make the "how to play" pages open to people without accounts.

Right now it appears that you need to have an account and be signed in to be able to view the "how to play" pages. This means if I want to show my friends what Storium is about, I have to invite them to a game, but they might not want to join a game until they know what Storium is about. It's kind of a chicken-and-the-egg situation. If I could show them the "how to play" pages (or at the very least the "basics" page), I would have an easier time convincing them to join my game.

    It would…

  8. Editing custom card photos after character creation

During character creation you can add photos to your custom cards, but after creation it seems like not even the narrator can add or change the photos. It's a small thing but would be nice, allowing you to hunt up an appropriate photo later and get on with the character now.

In gamma, the narrator can update cards (including image) at any time, even if the players are holding those cards. Players can also update (including image) any cards that they themselves created.

  9. Edit Cards after Creation

To allow for fixing of spelling mistakes, or image changes/sourcing. Perhaps with GM permission?

  10. Allow players to change challenges in response to revision requests

The narrator in Necropolis asked me to switch my play from one challenge to another (as a newbie, the card/challenge mechanic is somewhat confusing). While I could see how to change the card on the challenge I'd selected, I could not figure out how to switch the challenge. Nor was there a "delete draft and reset all state" option (even though we were still in the "revisions requested" mode). (And apparently that's not available to the narrator either (?) )

If a narrator requests changes on a player’s move the player can remove the card they have played, and then remove the challenge from their move. They are then able to choose another challenge to play on.

  11. have a "withdraw" button.

I gave a settings I wasn't sure about a try, and now I'm stuck in a game I don't enjoy, getting updates in my email, etc, etc, because there doesn't appear to be a "officially withdraw" button/option anywhere. If it exists, it should be more obvious.

To withdraw, click on your character’s portrait over on the left side of the game, click the character’s name to go to your character sheet, then click the ’Retire" button.

  13. add a "review" link to the "Manage Your Game" page.

I might just be missing it, but it seems like the only way to get to the "review" link for a character (the one whose url ends with "/review") is to either physically type the word into the URL or use the link provided in the email. There doesn't seem to be a link from the manage page.

  14. Show conclusion of prior scene at top of new scene

When the narrator concludes a scene and then starts a new one, when the players navigate to the game, they see the setup for the new scene. If something big happened in the conclusion, they may be confused and have to click back a page to read the bottom of the page. What about a little slide-open box that says "what just happened?" or something that would show them the final post in the previous scene.

If a scene is concluded and a new one started players are directed to the end of the old scene before they click through to the new one. Thanks.

  15. Allow more words....

First time player. Decided to write a single page in MS word and paste it in and found im 276 words over. Had to chop my narrative into 2 pieces. I don't think a single page is too much to read. Think about a higher limit....

  16. Re-label character cancellation buttons.

OK- VERY minor thing. When you click to cancel a character, you're presented with two choices: 'cancel', and 'confirm'. Even now, knowing which is which, I still some times click 'cancel' without thinking, assuming it means 'yes, cancel my character.'

I'd suggest renaming the choices 'yes' and 'no', or 'yes, cancel character' and 'no, return to character creation', or something like that, just for full clarity.

As I aid, not a ZOMG priority.

  17. Highlight avatars who have moved in the current scene.

This would be helpful for the narrator to keep track of play and make sure that big parties all get a turn before progressing.

The Activity Summary at the bottom of the page now lists all players and how many moves they have made/cards they have played so it is easy to tell at a glance who has had a turn.

  18. Allow us to review the setting/other characters during charater creation

You don't want to accidentally make a "double" of something in many cases, but it's easy to forget what other people have picked.

Right now, if you don't start with a separate tab open of the game page with the list of characters, in order to see the other characters you have to open each player's profile to find the character.

  19. allow players to poke narrator before the scene starts.

I am waiting for the narrator to start the first scene in a story. I can't poke him yet, because the scene hasn't started. This is pretty self-explanatory.

  20. Include a description of the game background (or a link to a popup of it) to character creation

There is currently no way to view the background blurb created by the narrator while going through character creation. This means that it's impossible to view important details (names, places, etc.) unless you've written them down or cancel the creation process. That is inconvenient, to say the least.

The Green Room and game info is accessible through a link on the left hand side of the character creation page; players can revisit it at any point or open it in a new tab for reference.
