Let narrators play as characters in their own games
I have a few games that I desperately want to make, but all of them require that I am able to be a PC and not just the narrator, with character cards a bio and everything. It would be really awesome if you guys would do that
1 voteNarrators are now able to create characters in their own games and play alongside other users. Thanks.

save unaccepted characters when submissions close
I've tried to join three different games tonight, and they all closed while I was writing up the backstory. Suddenly, all those words and character text was just gone. It would be nice to save unaccepted characters somewhere so you can use them in another, similar story should the opportunity arrive.
Essentially, I just don't want to lose all that writing just because they happened to close submissions while I was writing it all up.
3 votesIn Gamma, characters that don’t get accepted into an open game are no longer deleted. Rather, they are saved on a special page, from which you can decide to either keep them or delete them.

allow favoriting a game that hasn't started
Right now the star button doesn't favorite a game that hasn't started. Instead it takes you to the create a character mode.
6 votesThe star icon now allows you to favourite a game that has not started yet.

Forum for post-game discussion
It's something we often do face to face, talk about the game we had, choices made etc. It's a good tool to sort out the good and bad, praise and (constructive) criticisms. Given the number of games that get suspended, I think it might be a valuable category.
1 voteUsers can use the Green Room Discussion area for post-game discussions and feedback.

make it possible for players to somehow get more weaknesses
Currently there are ways for players to earn additional strength cards as rewards, but no way to earn additional weaknesses. This makes characters more and more unbalanced as games go on. It also tends to undermine the statement that "strong" and "weak" don't mean "good" and "bad".
1 voteNarrators can now set the card balance within their game, including more weaknesses than strengths.

Allow players to drop Goal cards.
I accidentally picked up two goal cards instead of one - which meant another player in our game could not pick a goal card, and a new goal card had to be written for him.
When asked to edit my post by the Narrator, it became apparent that the option to drop a Goal card stack was not possible under the Edit function.
It might be an idea to include this?
In any case - having a blast - and thanks for reading this!

Take forums out of notification list, please!
Oh, dear! I logged on today, and my notifications list was filled with updated forum posts! That notifications list should be strictly for game updates! Yikes! Please remove forum updates from those notifications, or add an option to turn them off, please! Thanks!
1 voteThere is an option to stop ‘watching’ a forum post, which will remove it from your notifications.

Allow editing of previous moves
As the narrator, I'd like to be able to flag any post for edit, not just the most recent, so as to correct continuity errors and such.
1 voteNarrators can now request revisions to any move within an active scene. Once a scene has ended players are able to edit without narrator request.

Give narrators a way to allow card changes after character acceptance
I'd like to have a way for narrators to give players a chance to change the cards they chose at character creation. Maybe this is a very specific case, but I started a private game and, between creating the game and the start of the first scene, many of the players developed their characters in ways that made their initial choice of cards inappropriate. I had to find links to the "review" page for each character and request character modifications in order to allow players a way to edit their character's cards. I appreciate the purpose for the limits put…
6 votesPlayers are able to edit cards through their character profiles throughout the game.

Have an editors pick!
You need a way to percolate upcoming stories that stay engaging. Most stories seem to fizzle out without really going anywhere.
1 voteThe Featured Games list is updated every two weeks, featuring excellent examples of Storium games chosen by volunteers.

link to narrators profile in the game banner
we can look up fellow players profiles from the top left of any page but once the game starts, the link to the narrator is gone. please include this in live games
1 voteIt’s actually inside the banner — if you click on the banner it will open a drawer that contains a lot of info about the game, including the narrator’s name and profile.

Adding or removing characters and players mid-game
I'd like to be able to add new players/ characters mid game or even remove players/ characters. Ideally, the players and characters could be added or deleted independently. For example, I'd like to be able to have my friend Bob join the game and take over a character because a player has to drop out. This could prevent games from shutting down due to player dropout or lack of posting.
I've been playing pbp gems for years and it's common for players to play half a game then drop out. Storium doesn't have a way to handle that.
7 votesIn Gamma you can both retire existing characters and add new ones at any time during gameplay. This includes players controlling more than one character, and even narrators having characters of their own.

Label buttons for screen readers
Many buttons on the game and character creation sheets are unlabeled and there is no way to determine what they do with a screen reader, which is the primary method for the visually impaired to access the content.
21 votesI’m marking this as complete because we’ve fixed all the button issues that we’re aware of. If there are others that you know about, please let us know!

Put active games in a drop-down at the top of each page.
I'd like to have easier access to the other games I'm playing in from any page.
6 votesUsers can now access a list of their games from the drop-down menu at the top of the page.

Make character applications visible after character creation
I've only joined one game so far, but in that case, a friend invited me after her open application period had finished. Before I created a character, I could see all the other applications. Afterwards, I couldn't see them--no names, avatars, nothing. I was able to work my way back to them through the character creation sheet, but I would like an easier route.
I'm not sure whether this applies in all games when one makes a character, or only under the circumstances I've described.
1 voteAll applications on a game are now visible to users, whether they are in the game, pending approval or just stopping by. Thanks.

Keep a count of retired before-game-ends characters for players and narrators.
If a player continues to retire out of games, it could represent an ongoing issue that could affect future narrators.

Create a way to track post-order or initiative
I have found that in games with many players on at the same time, posts often 'step on' each other- people complete challenges while other people are writing posts to address the same challenge, etc. It would be cool to have a 'currently writing move' notification or something similar on the cast bar so someone looking at the game will know that someone else is currently writing.
3 votesThere is now an indicator of any players currently on the game page and whether they are writing a move.

Gamify Shared Narration Responsibilities
The biggest stumbling block to the games I'm playing in is the narrator. If they are MIA, the game simply grinds to a halt.
I'd love an option to create a game with shared narration responsibilities which would be a system build right into the game.
I imagine it would work something like this:
The game's creator creates the setting. sets up an initial scene, and retains admin control of the story normally given to the Narrator such as invites and character approval. (Ideally these responsibilities would be shared as a vote as well, but it wouldn't be necessary.)
Players…
15 votesHosts can now choose rotating narration when setting up games: https://storium.com/help/starting-a-game#narration-styles
The host always maintains ultimate control over the administration of the game so they are able to pass the narrator role on in case of disappearance.

allow editing of character cards after approval and before game begins
When editing a character in that time frame it seemed the only editable fields were name and description. I wanted to alter some of my cards to be more specific after understanding the character creation process a little better.
25 votesCharacter cards can now be edited from the character profile page. Select ‘edit’ and the cards will be editable individually.

Enable read from "looking for players" / join from reading screen
So right now if I go to the "looking for players" section and see a game I like, I don't see a way to jump into reading that game. Being able to look at the game, see the initial scene setup, see the characters involved instead of just the players, would be quite handy. It would also be handy if, when I select a game to read and it's still accepting players, there could be a button or link that makes it clear the game is still joinable or not, rather than having to look through the "looking for players"…
14 votesThis has just been launched. Every game on the “Looking for players” page now has a “Read” button. There is also a link to the game from inside the character generation page.
