  1. Highlight Location Descriptions

    It's very easy to miss the description of a new location. Since these cards aren't challenges, there's no incentive to click on and read them. I think the text for locations should be visible under the image without clicking.

  2. Provide more guidance about narrative contributions

    I know it's early days, so I'm thankful for as much help as you already have. That said, it's really hard to play without some guidance about what sort of authority or liberty individual players are supposed to take with the narrative on their turns. It feels like a good way to play would be to make some short moves without playing cards to get a feel for a scene ("free roleplay" if you will) and then start making moves with mechanical punch. In any case, telling us how you play, or how you intend the game to be played…

  3. Display outcome of cards on the Manage your game page

    It would be handy to see what the challenge and character card's outcomes were so we could have an overview of how these will play out in the game.

  4. URL detection

    There was just a URL pasted in a commentary window, which I had to copy and paste to see it. Would it be possible for URL detection in that and in the main flow? Perhaps automatically popping to another window?

    Quite right. It’s not linked at the moment simply because we’re aggressively filtering out content that could be troublemaking (hacks, etc). We need to dial it back in this case.

  5. Provide for uploads via URLs as well as local files

    It would be nice if there was an option to paste a URL instead of always uploading an image. (I've gotten comfortable with Imgur's ease of pasting.)

  6. Options for various cards to be dropped

    So, you have two out comes. Weak or strong. Instead of having just one pool of cards that the players can draw from, why not tie them to the outcome. You get X,Y,Z for a strong outcome, but just X,Y for the weak one (or even A,B).

    Gives the players something to shoot for, when they decide what cards they want to play

  7. Commentary notification improvement

    When I get an email notification of new commentary, I want to respond to that email and have it appear in the thread, mostly because the text of the comments are in the email. Just found out that doesn't work. :)

    Alternatively, you could remove the text and make the email just an informational update like the move email notifications.

  8. provide option to include your own comments/moves in Notifications.

    Sometimes there is so much activity shown in my Notifications that it's difficult to keep track of when certain comments or moves happened in relation of my own comments and moves. It would be nice to have the option to show my own comment/move notifications among all of the others in my feed.

  9. Notifications for My Moves

    I'd love to see my own moves in the notifications log; it would help me quickly see if I had responded to the moves already listed. Otherwise I have to check the timestamp and think back, "Did I respond in that story within the last three hours?"

  10. Use a Flickr CC-Licensed search to suggest usable artwork

    Flickr offers a search API that allows you to constrain searches to Creative Commons License images. Given the right license, these should be okay to use in a game like Storium with derivative & original content uses.

    For what it's worth, I used to write some flash fiction on a site called ficly.com that did the same thing for story inspirations

  11. Change "move" to "act"

    It's strange to see "This character moved" when there's no movement either literal or metaphorical (except "moved the story forward" but that's a stretch). I get that you're playing up storium's nature as a game, but you can use the word 'act,' still feel like a game, but not remove players from the flow of the story.

  12. Clarify how points work.

    At present, the engine tells you how many points you have left for a scene, as narrator. Might want to add some advice on holding points back to play later in the scene. Also, it's unclear whether or not I'm "supposed" to use all of those points in the current scene, or if that's the budget for multiple scenes. More clarity would be good.

  13. Error message with renaming an asset with just one card

    As a reminder to those who forget or are learning the system, when seeing the "rename card" button and it's grayed out, it's not immediately intuitive why. You have to remember that rule. Could you add an indicator to remind the user why the asset is grayed out? At first, I thought it might have been a bug because I used the card, then removed it, and maybe some flag was set that prevented renaming. Or maybe it was an option that the narrator has to keep a card from being renamed.

  14. Make buttons clickable on mobile safari

    I was using my phone to make a move but when I went to the dialog to pick an item I could not hit the "send" or "ok" button (forget the button label) after picking something for my character to pick up.

    Heh, we’ll they’re not really intended to be “missing images” (more like default art) but the fact that you interpret them as such is perhaps telling! :)

    We are definitely planning to provide more art choices. One of the goals of our upcoming Kickstarter campaign is to finance this!

  18. Use the Prismatic Art Collection as a source for fantasy avatars

    I love that you want players to only use images for which they have permission and rights for avatars - but the reality is the vast majority of us have no access to such images. This wouldn't be a problem except that avatars are required for characters.

    I see there's already a plan to include a gallery of avatars in a future update; I'd suggest for fantasy worlds it'd be worth checking out the Prismatic Art Collection. It has characters of a variety of genders and ethnicities, all released under a Creative Commons license.

  19. Rearrange moves and past moves

    In writing my move, I'm having to scroll up and down quite a bit to refer to the opening scene details and past moves. Perhaps moving the "Your move" box to below "Commentary" would help.

    I fully admit that this might not be an ideal layout.

  20. Speed up email notifications

    Storium is great! But it'd be nice if email notifications came quicker: right now our game is doing mostly lengthy posts, so it's not bad, but if we were going back and forth with short dialogue, it'd be cool to get those notifications immediately.
