Bump older stories in "Looking For Players" list
Currently, if you have an established story but go from closed invitations to open when looking for new players, your story isn't bumped to the top of the list. It'd be handy for older stories when looking for some fresh characters.
This will be addressed in the initial Gamma launch. Every game’s open invitation status will automatically expire after 2 weeks (the narrator can turn it back on if they want) and the list of games on the Looking for Players page will be sorted by the date it was originally turned on. If the narrator turns open invitations back on again after two weeks, the sort date will be reset and the game will appear at the top of the list again. This will keep the list fresh and predictable in a fair way.

Hey, no worries, if it was unclear to you it was probably unclear to others as well!

Ok, cheers. Yes, it was a bit unclear earlier. That makes much more sense. Thanks - and sorry for distracting you from the upgrade. :)

No, when you turn open invitations back on, if it's been at least two weeks then the "turned on" date gets reset and you'll get a new slot at the top of the list. Sorry if I was unclear.

Hang on. If I'm reading that right, then nothing much has really changed. When I reach the end of the current world in my game Infinite Worlds and might be looking for players for the new world, if it's to be listed in the order it was "originally" turned on that means it'll still be listed as opening in July 2014! How does this help us to find new players, if we'll still be at the bottom of the list of games looking for players? The idea of the bump was that when a game's been off for some time, and gets turned back on (i.e. looking for new players after some time playing), then that game should appear in the order it was freshly turned on, not the original date.

I have a game which is a series of shorter games set within the overarching game. A chapter has just ended, which means I'm ready for a new chapter and can accept new players. I thought something was broken because the game wasn't appearing on the "looking for players" list. I finally found it listed as opened on July 7th (the original date I created it). Today is Nov 18th!!! I made a post in the forum with a link, so at least that's at the top of the forum. But not everyone checks the forum. Nobody will see that invitations are reopened unless it gets bumped to today's date.

We just rebooted because there seemed little point in being at the bottom of the long list of "looking for players". Filtering the "looking for players" list by genre or other criteria might ease this a bit, except for genres/worlds that would STILL have lots of games starting simultaneously.

I was actually about to post something similar. Maybe make 'looking for players' a tiny bit more complex and have the GM enter a desired number of players. Then the on the browse screen it will show "slots remaining" for prospective players and as the GM accepts players, the count goes down. At any time he can manually cancel the open invitations or it will automatically be closed when he reaches the requested number of players (so people don't forget to close a full game). This would help keep the system from getting too cluttered.

There should be a tag for "looking for replacement players."

This is essential. Games are dying because of player turnover, and being at the bottom is a death sentence.
