Reasons for retirement/suspending
I'm not actually sure if this is in the system already or not, but it'd be nice to have a "reasons" field that can be filled out when a player retires from a game or when a narrator suspends one, with that reason then being displayed when the character is inspected or the game is viewed thereafter. I know this wouldn't stop people from just up and quitting sometimes, but one thing I've noticed is that in a couple games I've been in, we lost one player than then that started a flood, leading to a suspension.
I'm thinking it's possible that directly asking people for a reason for their retirement (or narrators for a reason for suspension), which can be posted easily to the players and for posterity, may help highlight that people leave for various reasons--people may have extended schedule conflicts, rather than dissatisfaction with the game, for instance.

It is required for narrators to state a reason for game suspension, which is sent to all active players. It is not required for players to state a reason for retiring but it is strongly advised in the page text. Thanks.

I agree, but how would this be implemented/enforced? Perhaps the best method would be a "Peer Rating" feature which allows Storium participants to give feedback/ratings on other players; something similar to the EBay feedback option.

agreed - it's frustrating not to know, and also might make players think about contacting/communicating with the narrator/other players before just quitting without doing so.
I'd also quite like there to be some kind of decision for the player to indicate whether they want that to be the end of their character or whether they don't mind the narrator keeping the char in the game but writing for them as an NPC.

I am sick to death of being demoralized by people just dropping out without explanation... I just want explanation of why... anything even if you hate my game... Hell it might help me improve the game, but just leaving without warning is just tacky...

I've had a couple of players leave one of my games, and with no way to chat on the site I have no idea why. An obligatory "reason for leaving" box when you're retiring yourself from a game would be great - with suggestions, perhaps, so you can say "I no longer have time to keep up with this many games" or "This game is boring/too fast/too slow/has this issue which you should fix". Otherwise people just drop out and disappear, which is pretty worrying for the narrator.
