  1. Weaknesses as Strengths and vice versa

We have all witnessed, lived, or read of situations where weakness blooms into triumph and strengths have become liabilities. I'm suggesting adding a "Tag" to the strength/weakness cards. A player can then "tag" a weakness, indicating its use that turn as a strength, or they can tag a strength, indicating its use that turn as a weakness.Tags are of course limited (maybe 3 uses per story?). I realize wildcards can serve the same general purpose but they lack dramatic flair.

  2. Allow minor revision requests

Sometimes as a narrator you want to make a revision request for something that doesn't really change the content of the move, such as a typo or rewording an NPC's dialogue. In these cases it would be nice to mark the revision request as minor so other players can continue to post.

  3. There should be more profile settings

There should be a way to update your age range for when you "graduate" from one into another. As of now it seems you would have to make a new account to update your age range.

  4. Facebook Integration

Currently you cannot login with Facebook if you've already made an account. The site says you can link it after you log in normally, but that option isn't present. It would be nice to use Facebook as a single sign-on by linking a normal account to a Facebook account (as is stated should be available).

  5. I am unable to customize my home page from a mobile device

  6. Showing favorited games

If a favorited game has been completed or hasn't had and activity for some time, it can be difficult to find it, and the favorited games list only goes back so far. Could you please list it, like your own games on your homepage, or something similar that makes it easier to find these games?

  7. new world exploration achievements

I have two ideas for new achievements based on world exploration and it will encourage players to play in worlds or explore.

The first of these is the world explorer achievement.

You get this one in steps, much like other achievements for playing in a wide variety of worlds. It would have names like

    traveler: 3 worlds
    explorer: 10 worlds
    wanderer: 25 worlds
    trailblazer: 40 worlds
    pathfinder: 60 worlds

and so on, though of course those names might need adjustment.

the second kind of world achievement is a mastery achievement, which a player earns for playing multiple games in the…

  8. Add an Episodic "medium" for stories with a TV Series feel

Storium currently refers to structural narrative units in terms of "Acts" and "Scenes," which works wonderfully to give most games their dramatic structure, but that terminlology seems to break down in games that don't fit neatly within the arc.

The Episodic medium would differ in three major ways from a traditional Storium game:

    1. Focus and Writing Style. The Episodic medium is much more plot- and action-driven. It focuses on vignettes rather than robust literary scenes; there may be a few scene changes within an Episode unit that would be cumbersome with what Storium now refers to as a "scene". Moves…

  9. develop a quick game (mobile app)

I think that storium could benefit from faster mobile first stories(turbo fate), that work with apps...

I am not sure, but I think they might be different in their gameplay, adding to the options. Being primarily mobile, I think reaction times will be shorter in these games, texts shorter and in general faster. Stories could be cached, offline writing and pushing enabled and so on. This might also make it easier to offer more open games.

Wanted to put it out there to get some ideas on that. Would it be useful or what do you all think?!

  10. Allow centre and right alignment (justification) of paragraphs

In general, I find that the formatting allowed for moves is sufficient. However, I like the idea of using standard screenplay formatting for a game, and that requires centre and right alignment of paragraphs. This doesn't seem to be a feature of most markdown formats however.

If it is possible, please say how.

If it isn't, how difficult would it be to implement, and is there any demand for it?

  11. Can we please add the "minor edits" button to characters?

Like it says on the tin. Sometimes it'd be nice to have people be able to keep tinkering during the intro stages of a game or while it's in play and their character develops without having a notifiaction every single time.

  12. New Player Engagement

In my experience, new player engagement has been awfully difficult, My relatively short Storium career has gone. Join site. Browse for game. Look for beginner game. No beginner games accepting new players. Look for regular game. No regular games accepting new players. Check Looking for Group forum. New game starting that needs players. Create character. Character Rejected. ...Are we having fun yet??

There has to be an easier way to get a game going, am I missing something?

Sorry for the trouble you’ve had getting into a game! We’re going to recruit more Mentors soon to run more beginner games. But truly, the best way to get playing is to bring your friends to Storium. You can start a game and invite friends via Facebook or via email. Once they’ve joined-up you can use the Green Room to decide what you want to play, and you can hand-off the host and narrator roles to someone else, if you want!

  13. Historical Fiction?

I teach world history and would love a way for students to "play through" historical settings. Could we look for authors to add historical fiction modules?

  14. narrator created description tabs

I am mostly interested in fantasy. That being said, I am in the process of creating my Ideal World. The problem is, short of a gigantic wall of text, there is really no way for me to post a description of my world or general Geographic layout, religion and God structure, or even better detailed description of different species and races inhabiting areas.

I would like to be able to create different tabs and sub-tabs to describe different aspects of my world. Preferably user-created tabs. For example God's, Elves, Humans, Description of kingdom x, y, z... And so on.

    So…

  15. Offer Email Alerts for Open Games for Beginners

On the Games for Beginners page, if no games are currently available, there should be an option for an email alert to notify when a game is available.

I am a new member, and currently no games are available. I will continue to check, but after several attempts, I may stop out of frustration or forgetting. Having this option will likely retain new members who may otherwise find it difficult to join a beginner game.

  17. Consider Branches, Sub-Areas, and Setting Decks

This mechanic would address situations normally approached by creating multiple games to contain private, individual, or side action. (If what I'm typing sounds convoluted, I've visualized the larger ideas with my extremely pedestrian MS Paint/GIMP abilities for clarification).

The feature would add a "Create Branch" option to the narrator's game interface that effectively splits a single scene into two or more smaller, contemporaneous scenes with individual settings.

The narrator would have UI controls allowing them to:
    (A) Assign/move characters to sub-scenes and control whether or not the players can move themselves freely between scenes (e.g., the difference between moving between…

  18. Multiple Improvements to Favorites Implementation

There are a number of ways that we could improve our currently handling of Favorites (Stars) to make them more useful for the community. Right now, the problem is that Favoriting a story also means 'following' it for update purposes, which can make it problematic to have more than a couple if you pay attention to your Favorites feed. Part of the trouble there is also that you can't just see a list of your favorites to track one story, and then move to another that's been updating when you're ready. You're locked into chronological view-everything (and even see comments…

  19. include narrator's moves in email notifications

I'm actually amazed this isn't already a change request, but better late than never! :-)

Right now, player moves text (though not card play details but that's less important) are sent out in full in email notifications for those of us who receive them. Narrator moves however are not - we only receive a message saying "The Narrator has continued the scene". If I had to guess as to why this descrepancy exists I'd say it's to spur users to log into the site and actually look at the scene in full?

However, the effect is to not only hamper…
