Add a meta-reward card
I had posted in the Gameplay Advice column, asking for feedback on card mechanic where you reward players with a Meta-Wealth asset card, to reward them for posts that are extraordinary contributions to the story.
Several RPG systems have a way of challenging the players this way - Exalted potentially rewards players with experience and more dice vs. a roll for example.
For Storium, the player can later use that card during a post to have their character find/purchase/upgrade something amazing for their character.
1 voteNarrators can hand out asset cards to players for in-game or out-of-game achievements that can be used later on in the story.

Allow transfer of games and narration
Allow narrators to give ownership of their game to a player. If someone were to have an emergency that prevented them from continuing the game, but the players were still engaged, they wouldn't have to recreate the world from scratch.
8 votesNarrators and Hosts can now hand off their duties/games to other players.

Auto-save drafts as they're being worked on
I accidentally clicked outside the box while writing up a description. Unfortunately, that closed the box without saving anything, and I lost about twenty minutes worth of work. The system should cache drafts while you're working, so that they can be picked up in event of error or problem.

Allow Skipping Avatar Choice
It would be nice if we could skip selection of an avatar during character creation, if only because we might not have a picture to hand. Could there be some kind of default avatar for those who didn't pick a custom one?

Allow narrators to play cards on challenges.
Currently, the only tool that a narrator has to affect how a challenge is going is using continued scene posts, which have no presence mechanically. NPCs can also contribute to challenges and this should be reflected by cards. This would also open up options for new, more competitive challenges between narrator and player, longer challenges, such as fights, where hostile NPCs lean the outcome weak or allies help toward a strong completion.
5 votesIn Gamma, narrators can now create and control their own characters, with their own cards that can be played in the game.

changing narrators
Is it possible to allow the narrator to turn over the narrating to another player if they are unable to continue the game, or does it just become a dead game?
13 votesNarrators can now hand off games if they are no longer able to continue narrating. You can find this option in the game’s Green Room. Thanks!

Fonts
Bold, italics and other fonts would add some depth to the writing. Perhaps making them available for a small additional charge.
1 voteBold and italics are already supported — click on the “formatting help” link, just under the input box when you’re writing a move or a scene.

Allow read-only browsing of worlds
I'm hesitant to apply to join a world when I haven't even seen any of the writing. I'd prefer to be able to read some of first so I can see if it's what I'm looking for and whether I feel I'll fit in. Otherwise it's wasting my time and possibly world owner's as well.
2 votesApplicants can now read any games in progress using the ‘Read’ button on the game banner.

Give us an easier way to get into a game
i have been trying few games and each time either I am rejected or I simply never hear anything back. I can't create a game for myself since I don't know how and would rather play at first than lead,
1 voteETA: New players can join a Beginners Game that will allow them to learn about how Storium works with a friendly and helpful Mentor narrator. Games can be found here; https://storium.com/games/for_beginners
I’m sorry you’ve had a tough time getting into a game via our open invitation system. We are planning to improve it. One thing you might want to try instead, for now, is to post on our Forums. There is a “Forums” link at the top of every page. Inside you’ll find two categories of interest: “Looking for Players” (where narrators can post about their games, and you can have a conversation with them about it) and “Looking for Group” (where players like you can find like-minded people to play with).

Unapply to join?
I'm brand spanking new, so maybe missing something, but I was browsing the "looking for players" category, clicked the "Apply to Join" link for one, read through some of the applications, and decided to move on. I don't see a way to ... unapply? I haven't done the narration thing, so I have no idea if this has any effect on the game, but I feel like there ought to be a way that I can rescind my request.
24 votesThis is now fixed! You had never really applied to join in these cases; the system was just incorrectly stating it.

Allow the narrator to refuse to credit a challenge action
Right now I'm seeing a lot of characters claim to be playing on a challenge but never actually addressing the challenge. They end up getting karma points (and often winning control) even though the actions and the cards played don't match up. I'd like an option for the narrator to say "These cards weren't actually used in this play." And keep the challenge open as if the cards had not been claimed to have been used.
6 votesNarrators can request revisions on moves that do not address the challenge; the player must address the request before they are able to move again.

Change narrator
It would be nice if a story could be transferred from one narrator to another. For example, I'm in a game that seems to have ground tot a halt. Presumably real life has distracted the narrator from the game for a while. It would be cool if they could make one of their players narrator in their absence (i.e transfer an active story from one account to another).
1 voteRotating narratorship is now a possibility. A game can be switched to rotating narrator, which will allow any players who wish to narrate to take a scene in turn. If you wish to give it to just one player merely remove all other players from the list. Thanks!

Inactive Games
Inactive games should be listed separately when looking at a person's profile. Currently, inactive games show up just the same as active games, inflating the list so a player looks like they are in more games than they actually are.
1 voteUsers can retire from inactive games, which will remove them from the active games list.

Conserve line breaks in player bios
My multi-paragraph bio was condensed into one block of text. Line breaks should be kept to improve readability. It's not clear if simple HTML can be used (italics, bold) in the player bio. If so, a hint text should be added to the text box.
15 votesThis should be fixed in Gamma.

Allow characters to act without fulfilling a challenge
Right now, the only way for characters to do literally anything, including just talk to other characters, is via a challenge. This is very limiting in terms of what the story can do, especially if the narrator only lays out one challenge and/or lays out a very narrow, restricting challenge that doesn't reflect what a player would like to do.

"completed stories" button as part of the "Browse" options
Currently, when browsing, there are options/heading like "featured" and "most favorited." I think it would be useful to have a "completed stories" option so that readers could choose only to start reading stories that they know have an ending (as opposed to have being abandoned part-way through or in the process of continuing very slowly).
7 votesThis will be in the initial Gamma launch!

implement a Storium Library to contain completed games.
I wish there were a Library option that I could browse the completed games in. Perhaps the narrators could even chose a critique option that would allow readers to leave comments. I believe this would help us all (players and narrators) become better writers.
2 votesThe completed games tab allows users to browse all completed games: https://storium.com/games/completed

create some way to editcharacter bios and posts for spelling and grammatical errors.
As you can see above, when I post, I often miss one or two spelling or grammatical issues, and I'm sure I'm not the only one. It'd be nice to be able to fix minor mistakes so one doesn't have their poor spelling immortalized.
1 voteYou can edit your character’s bio at any time — simply go to your character sheet (by clicking your character’s name in the sidebar) and click “Edit”. You can also edit your most recent move up until the next player moves. We are working on future functionality to enable more flexible editing.
EDIT: You can now edit moves in an active scene at with a narrator Revision Request, and past scene moves can be edited at any time.

Games Page - Descriptions
When browsing games it would be great if there was a short description listed (as written by the Narrator). Would make looking at other games for ideas or examples a lot less cumbersome...
