create a notes section
As a character, it would be great to have a pop up window or something that is easily accessible where we can make notes to keep track of other character elements, scene details, or anything really that would make referencing easy.
Or, if we could make private notes on the other characters cards or scene headers, even that would be helpful.
I have a note pad that I am currently using, but if I am not at my desktop, I may not have my notes with me. Having them integrated into the storium setting would be ideal.
So far though,…

Allow images to be added to commentary
I'm an artist and have a habit of drawing stuff that happens in the games I play. I would love to share them, but am stuck adding a link in commentary that doesn't turn into a hyper link.
A hyperlink would work fine, but it would be awesome if the the commentary could identify the link as an image and show a thumbnail of the image the user could click on to open the larger image.

Allow narrator to play card for inactive player
Most of the games I've been in so far have bogged down due to one or more inactive players. The remaining players can't complete the challenges to move the story along because they have played all their cards. I would suggest that, 24 hours after a narrator prompts a player, if the player hasn't posted, the narrator can then play one of that player's "weakness" cards on the challenge and write it up, so the remaining players can finish

secret / flippable cards
if you had secret / flippable cards, you could solidify any secrets that your character is holding at the start of the game, with that information easily available and accessible to you and the narrator throughout the game, but secret to the other players until you reveal or flip that card. i'm thinking mainly dual natures or dual goals/subplots but it could work for assets too.
it would go a long way towards solving the problem of narrator's notes in character submissions going missing once a game has started, as I like to browse my cards as a quick way…

Let narrators write a first scene before players sign up
The way it is now people are creating characters and have no idea if they will fit into the story or not. Potential players have no idea if they like the way the narrator writes. It wastes everybody's time.

Lock moves for players after uncertain outcomes until the Narrator makes a move
I think it would be a good idea, in the case of uncertain outcomes, to lock moves for everyone but the narrator until the narrator actually moves. This way, you won't have overzealous players continuing to narrate in the challenge when the narrator hasn't had a chance to post their outcome yet.

Allow players to play Assets, Goals and Subplots without a Challenge
I think it would be fun and mechanically useful to let a character play a set number of 'Uncertain' cards as part of their move, as a way of indicating to the Narrator that they'd like to invest mechanically in bringing that element of their character out at that time. Plus, it would let people use interesting Assets they've accumulated proactively.
Basically, I'm a plot-map kind of narrator but I'd like to give people the opportunity to influence the story outside of challenge resolution-- but I don't want them to do it casually and without limits. Making them spend an…

implement spoiler tags
Sometimes, especially in a mystery story, the results of a challenge could be a spoiler. This is even if the player is making up most of the details; sometimes the nature of the potential details is a spoiler.
Similarly, there might be times when the narrator wants some text to be only available to certain players, say, during a narration. (I'm imagining a situation where some characters notice some details, and some notice others.)
The solution would be a "spoiler" tag like many forums have. It would either make the text the same color as the background (highlight with your…

Have a "view story all on one page" button for when you need to review what's happened so far
Obviously the normal view is best normally, but there should be a button to see everything in the story all on one page, from the original premise through all chapters and scenes. This would make it a lot easier to review or get caught up

Be able to read a story/game prior to joining
Why cannot anybody read what has been written so far by the players to gauge the quality of writing, the style and play of the story?
You have to apply (which i haven't gone beyond yet) i don't want to commit myself to a story only to find the quality of writing is poor and has a bad narrator. Sure i probably can leave, but that might be after going through the motions of setting up a character. This works both ways, if i am a narrator and i have new players join who do one scene and leave or…

Embedded widgets or HTML
It would be nice if urls entered into comments, or even txts. Embedding YouTube urls to playable video might also be cool. I am thinking about references and background music/video. Possibly not for everyone, but some of It would be useful.

In the Commentary, prompt for @names of players & Narrator
When writing a comment, if I press the @ key, it would be helpful if I would be presented with small pop-up list of fellow players and narrator names. That'd make it much easier to name-check.

Smart Arrangement
If Auto-refreshing certain section of the page (like comments) is enabled, then it would be nice if I can "paint my canvas (monitor) by drag and drop with any Storium or narrator objects.
-because we could play or watch from any device regardless of monitor size and take advantage of the entire screen.
-because we could Save different layouts depending on the part/type of the story we're playing
-because we could support multiple monitors
-because we won't need a 'customized' app for all the different devices out there.
To a certain extent this is achievable by using Open Link in…

Favorite Games/Players
It would be nice to have the favorites listed by games and then by player rather than listing all the moves that everyone has played. It will be easier to find.
Thanks!

Storium for Schools as a TEFL/ESL tool
I am an English teacher in the Netherlands and I have often wondered how to integrate my hobby of playing RPG's/storytelling into my lessons. I have used Atlas Games' Once Upon a Time to great effect, but that's where my experiments stopped, mainly due to time constraints. However, I see possibilities for Storium to play a role in and outside of my classroom.
Maybe you could partner with a publisher of TEFL material, maybe a group of TEFL-teachers could help with working this out, but please seriously consider this option for future development.3 votes -
Neutral cards should lead to uncertainty
We currently finished a 9-point challenge with 3 Strength, 2 Weakness, and 4 Neutral cards.
Given that 6 of the 9 cards were played towards a non-Strong outcome, why did it end "Strong"? I feel that it should've ended "Uncertain".
Otherwise, players can spam Asset / Goal / Subplot usage as a sort of filler just to reduce the difficulty of a Challenge.

Make it possible to reply to comments via email
I get an email notification that the moderator for our game has made a comment on my character. I do not know how to respond to a question he posed other than send him a personal email. It would be nice if Storium had a link in the email which would allow me to respond.

Make all pictures optional.
As narrator, I'd like an option to disable all pictures all together. That includes the default picture that appears if no other pictures are uploaded.
While some might be inspired by pictures, I see Storium as cooperative writing platform and would like to take the picture-book feel away. Besides, I find it annoying having to search the web for a fitting picture, before I can finish a scene, card, or whatever. I'd rather keep it all text-based, and have note even the default picture. Just a card with text.

Post as Player
Allow the Narrator to post as a player if that player hasn't posted in game in a set number of days. This will allow the Narrator to keep things flowing when a player vanishes.
