  1. Higher Resolution Images

Currently all uploaded images suffer from a considerable amount of quality loss, stretching and .jpg artifacts. It's rather frustrating to make or find a perfect, crisp HD picture only for it to turn into a blurry mess (especially for someone planning to do their own custom art for a game). If the issue is the bandwidth related to the size of the image in kbs or mbs, maybe consider putting in a certain size limit without requiring for all images to look sloppy? I'm a bit of an image quality purist and allowing for higher quality in Storium images would…

  2. OOC comments on individual posts.

For example, character A makes a really sweet move (funny, dramatic, etc) and everyone wants to laud that player, so they post their praise to the OOC comments on the right. Player B has been at work and unable to get on all day and first sees the comments, which ruin the awesome move for them before they can read it. Allowing players to put comments on specific posts (praise for a cool post or exploring a topic raised by that post) would allow for a more general, less cluttered main comment section where players can get a more general…

  3. 'Experience Point' system

Much as I really like the system now, I feel there could be a kind of 'kudos points' system that buys bonuses later on, such as the right to regain a card, or play a fourth card in a scene, for instance. I'd model it on the fantastic 'best player' idea from Unknown Armies: At the end of a scene/chapter, the players and narrator get a quick vote on which player was the most interesting, valuable, or otherwise worthwhile player, with a reason attached. This becomes a really valuable way to permit players to compliment each other, reinforce each other,…

  4. Handle assets as a class for narrators, create instances when giving

The way assets are handled makes giving multiple assets of the same kind to different people extremely tedious. The UX is create copies that come with an edited name and to give out the asset literally.

Rather, why not treat assets as a narrator creating a class, and narrators can give instances of those classes out when hitting give? Then, provide a check mark option to either keep or delete the class after giving.

You'd have the same UX as you do now, but people that need to give multiple instances of an asset wouldn't need to go through such…

  5. Next To Move Suggestion

Sometimes I've noticed games bog down because everybody is waiting for everybody else to move.

It'd be good to have some sort of voting system whereby people can indicate who they think should be the next person to move (perhaps with the narrator's choice having additional weight). Whoever has the most votes is made aware that they are the one holding up the action.

Obviously whenever someone actually makes a move the votes will then clear. It'll save a lot of very similar "so who's going to move next?" discussions.

  7. Create an app

I'm not sure if it was included in the base kickstarter or if it was one of the stretch goals but it would be incredibly nice to be able to play this on a mobile device without the bad user interface offered by the Internet browser.

My apologies if this is already in the works.

  8. allow multiple place scenes to be played, both at the beginning and during a scene

I would like to see the ability to play multiple place cards added.

The model of Storium in most ways seems to support the idea that scenes are run by story events. It seems odd that only one Place card can be played by scene. If the players move to a new room without fundamentally changing the scene, as a narrator don't want to break the flow of the scene by ending it, but it seems a little pointless to have Place cards without using them. Currently, people seem to be doing multiple locations through scene description and markup, and…

  9. Change the email subject lines

I read these emails on my smartphone and the story being the last thing is kind of a pain, since they get cut off.

I'd say a format more like:

    [Storium] STORY_NAME: blurb-about-what happened.

    For example:
    [Storium] Moose Habitat: New comments.
[Storium] Moose Habitat: So and So moved.
[Storium] Moose Habitat: Narrator ended the scene.

At the very least remove some unnecessary words in "ended the current scene in".. that alone is so long it runs off and I can't see which game I'm playing has ended a scene.

Minor inconvenience, but worth looking into.

  12. Saving drafts of story summaries in real time

The implementation for auto-saving drafts in real time works great, but the UX for story summaries is horrible. If you click off of the in-focus window without saving, you lose any work you've done. Twice now I've lost summaries due to this poor UX. Please add the functionality of auto-saving drafts in real time across everything a player/narrator can write in. Thanks.

  13. Let the narrator place a limit on cards per challenge.

While in most cases the idea of letting all the players collaborate on a challenge is great, sometimes you want to create a challenge that demands group consensus. An easy way to allow this would be to let narrators set a challenge at one point per player, but impose a limit of one card on that challenge for each player. That way, the group as a whole has to decide which way they're going to go.

  14. Allow players to refresh their cards by subtype (Strengths/Weaknesses)

Currently, you have to use up ALL of your Strengths AND Weaknesses before you can refresh your cards.

In the current game I am narrating, a few players have used all of one or the other, and now only have one type remaining.

I think it would be useful if once you used up all of one type, you get to refresh your cards of that type. So when I have played all of my weakness cards and have some strength cards left, but it makes sense to play a weakness at this point, I am not forced to play…

  16. Make favorited moves/characters/stories even more useful

So we know that you're planning to add a more robust favorite system, being able to star more than just stories. I have some thoughts about expanding the mechanic.

First, I think a clever but rewarding UI addition would be a minimalist star-score in a writer's header (see attached), as well as on their profile page. Perhaps consider separating the categories, so that players can have their personal work 'galleries' that displays their public contributions on their own profiles.

Starring posts can also be a tool for quality regulation, while introducing another way to involve cards with storytelling. Not only…

  17. Narrator pre-preparation

I realise you have plans for this based around the "Narrator Intel" box in the "Edit Game" settings, but it would be really useful now if you could open up a big freeform text box (presumably under that tab, or perhaps just under a new "Notes" tab. As per other feedback I've given, I think it's really important for the narrator to try to predict ahead where the story is going and create content in advance to keep it flowing. We can do that for characters and objects but it'd be really useful to have somewhere on this system (rather…

Right now, I have a player invited to a a private game who's still stuck for ideas making a character. I'd like to let him read the story thus far, but it doesn't seem to be possible until a character has been made.

  19. Allow wild cards to go into the deck pile

Like the title says, it would be nice that a wild card created by a player would be inserted into the already existing cards for that campaign so that another player or the narrator could reuse that card later.

  20. Pause capability while players are writing scenes

It would be nice if there was some sort of "pause" button players and narrators could click while they are writing scenes to alert other players that someone is currently posting. As of right now, there is nothing to stop two players from writing scenes simultaneously, only to find out their scene is rendered worthless by another player who posted just a minute before.

One of our players just spent half an hour writing their first move, only to find out when he hit "Submit" that another scene had been played while he was writing, thus causing him to have…
