Live Updates
Live update the story page to highlight players submitting moves, as well as what challenges they selected. Also to show the finished move once done. I sat on the page for 5 minutes, not knowing I'd have to refresh.

As an alternative, next to the text box when you are writing a move, a status indicator that notifies you someone else is also writing. That way you can make sure you don't step on each other's toes.
Using the comment sidebar is helpful, but sometimes you get into writing and forget to update it.

What my players and I have been doing is just typing the word "typing" into the commentary before we begin, and "done" when we're done. Beyond that, we just try to communicate in general so we don't step on somebody by accident.
I can see how a more competitive rather than cooperative game might benefit from players actually TRYING to type over one another, but outside of that context, I think holding your place in line is important, provided you don't take forever and hold up the game.

Perhaps a Live update "traffic light".
Green = Nobody is writing.
Yellow = Someone has an editor open.
Red = Scene has changed -

3 votes, totally agree with one! Maybe something showing "USER is planning a move," or setup permissions so that only one player can post at a time (somewhat like how read-only functions for files on servers).

I was thinking something similar when I was about to make my first post and it had taken me a while. Luckily it wasn't a problem.
I'd suggest this be more than simply a "currently typing" feature like some IM systems have. I think ideally it should indicate who has begun to compose a move, and how long ago the page registered them entering data. This will allow you to know whether you'll interfere (in case the person in question is momentarily forked off) and whether they've had a reasonable amount of time to finish (or if you need to poke them).

As an addendum - at least the text wasn't lost entirely. It turns out that Storium emailed my draft to me, so I was able to copy/paste it into the start of the next scene as a "follow on". But some sort of warning mechanism would still be nice.

The game desperately needs Live Updates so everyone can keep track of who is posting, and so that players don't have to use guesswork with their page refreshes.
