  1. Allow for player card inventory editing

I've had some players take cards or play cards and the group felt it wasn't appropriate for that situation. It would be good for the narrator to be able to edit player card inventories to either increase or decrease card counts, or delete cards in hand.

  2. Let players award Karma to each other

Karma does well at encouraging players to write setbacks and complications for their characters. But there are other kinds of awesomeness that deserve reward! It's pretty clear the "Adjust Karma" option is not intended for that sort of thing, so what if there were an "attaboy" mechanic by which players could award Karma to each other for moves they really enjoyed?

I'm thinking the Narrator could define a number of awardable Karma points per chapter, either per player or in a shared pool. Then by way of a "like" button of sorts on moves, players can zing Karma to each…

Great suggestion, thank you! We like the idea of some manner of player-to-play recognition, and Karma might be a way to do it. Longer term we are also considering audience recognition — that is, people who are reading your story but not playing in it.

  3. Allow narrators to make another player a co-narrator.

Many campaigns work well with multiple narrators, especially if parties split and re-form, or if one person runs plot and the other runs NPCs. A narrator should be able to make a second player a co-narrator of the game they are a member of.

  4. Allow users to edit/delete comments

Minor thing: I'd like to be able to go back and edit things I've written in the commentary. Along the same lines, and mentioned by others: letting the comment box grow as we type, and allowing for multiple paragraph comments (I tried using shift+enter to start a new graph which accidentally posted my comment which prompted this feedback). Not a huge deal, but would be useful to long-winded jerks like me.

  5. Ability to look for local players, or at least players in same time zone

I am in a game that is stretched over multiple time zones, so players make their moves at different times of the day.

I wonder what the experience would be if a game could be played with all players being local to each other.

  6. List how many people have taken Natures next to Natures in character creation

I think it would be useful for games with a lot of players where the Natures are fairly exclusionary, for example, the open starship game I'm planning with lots of exclusive roles as Nature, such as captain, second in command, etc.

  7. Personal Character Library for Players

While we get an email with a character copy when a Narrator closes a game, if you quit a game, or if you're removed, you lose your character for good.

And that is particularly annoying\sad especially on characters with complex and custom cards. I would like to know if it would be possible to:

    a) Allow players to keep copies of all of their characters in their account, no matter what the status of the story (active, inactive, etc).
    b) Have the possibility to "reapply" a character, by submitting it to another story.

So, b) would be possible by adding…

  8. let players spectate for certain scenes

So, this is more a comment in 4+ player games, but I'm in a 2-player game right now for which it's also relevant.

It's not always reasonable that each character will be in every scene, but right now there's no way to handle that except for people to willfully refrain from participating.

That works kind of, but it doesn't alter the available currency for the narrator in the scene. (Or rather, when the "you're spending more challenge points than the players can resolve" message pops up.)

Also, it can be easy to forget when folks are deliberately spectating.

    So I…

  9. Allow the narrator to make cards given to players private

I just had a scene where I wanted to give a player an asset card, but would rather not have had the other player in the scene know about it. Can we get an option to make the cards that narrators give to players private?

  10. Allow for some graphical customization.

At the very least changing the backround colours of the cards and the game's pages would be very welcome. :) For private games, it would also be very cool to be able to set a (sufficiently high-res) image as a page background, instead of a solid colour. A starfield for SF games, for example.

  11. Allow us to choose which laggards we poke

Your criteria for who gets poked is not always appropriate. Sometimes we want to poke someone specific because a question has been directed at them.

  12. Public and Private Asset Cards

It might sometimes be important that characters could hide things from the party. Maybe the narrator can slip an asset that only that player knows about. If the item could be switched between private and public by the player that might be interesting as well allowing a player to reveal the great mcguffin artifact passed down by his ancestor and such.

  13. Provide a way to bookmark games

There's a lot of games to scroll through in here. I would have liked to be able to mark some for closer perusal later, but I don't see the option.

  14. Text colors

By being able to use different colored text, it is possible to assign each character a different color, allowing for one person to post multiple people talking without having to list their names every single time. Makes it very easy to follow conversations that way in a story.

  15. show 'last posted' time when showing a character's info.

When I click a character, or go to a character's page, it would be nice to see when the character last posted. It might be a little easier in post heavy games to make sure no one is being left behind.

  16. Ability to style a story (colors, graphics)

It would be neat if I could pick the colors on my storypage, so I could do light text on a dark background, or pick an overall background image and so forth. Not a "must-have" but would be a nice tool - especially if I could do it from scene to scene.

  17. Allow players to edit moves and have narrators approve them

Sometimes, players make small typos that don’t really hinder the game, but they are bothersome upon rereading. Instead of the narrator requesting revisions, it would be cool if players could edit their move and the revised version went to the narrator for approval (preferably with highlights of the edits). Then, the narrator could approve or deny the changes and they either go public or return to the player with an explanation.

  18. Mark notifications as "read".

Right now, there's no way to tell at a glance if any of the notifications are new to me. I can look at the notification area, and see that Bob made a move 30 minutes ago, and Sally made a comment an hour ago. But I look and go "... Crap, did I read that one already?" And then I have to open up each of the games in question and check.

  19. Enable embedded video clips to serve same purpose as images.

I am a newbie to Storium and learning how it all works..but i have an idea based on the fact users can place images along with their stories..

There is a new webapp from Mozilla called Popcorn maker, basically in a nutshell this is like an online video editor where you can search for video clips on youtube and mash them together with other clips, be it have a several videos playing at once overlapped or single frame. The user can mute the audio, and run their own music over top (i think) this then can be shared and embedded…

  20. Make game info and other characters more visible during creation

I see that another comment was posted about this and it was indicated that this was now smoother...I disagree. There's still no way to view the game summary and other characters when creating a character without flipping back and forth between views. Is there a way to have it all on the creation page, possibly in an abbreviated form that pops out with more detail if needed? It'd really speed up creation.
