  1. extend the word limit for character posts.

I've been finding the word limit really restrictive. I like expending the mental space of my characters in addition to describing just what they do, really fleshing the piece out and making it more like novel prose. I would thrive as a player with more space in the move box.

  2. Create an avatar gallery

Having to find my own avatar image seemed like a barrier to setting up my character. I don't like having to leave the site. Potentially it'd be nice for you to provide a gallery from which I can select, with an option to find my own if I so choose. Maybe I can get more points for finding and using a brand new image (which then is also placed in the gallery for others to use, thus allowing the community to populate the gallery).

  3. Allow for the Cast List pop out to be larger with more info (including ammo counter), along with shared vehicles, NPCs, equipment or shelter

The Cast List on the right side is helpful, but it would be nice to be able to see more in-depth details on the characters. This would include background, stats, damage, equipment, etc. Perhaps the character can reveal as much as they want or the Narrator deems acceptable.

An ammunition counter for each player would be helpful as an addition to this.

Another addition to this feature would be to be able to add to the Cast list with "Cards" for vehicles, shared equipment, NPCs, and shelter. Our party has a 2.5 ton truck, but it would be great to…

  4. allow for posting larger images

It would be nice if we could post a larger image to share maps, etc. with them in greater detail than is allowed on the cards.

  5. Add a field for user time zone

.. Maybe display it next to username. It makes it a bit easier to know when to expect responses.

  6. see other characters more easily when creating mine

In joining a game, the pop-up dialogue box for character creation makes it hard to simultaneously review the other characters/the plot. I find myself toggling back and forth between character creation and the other characters. I know this involves some redesign, but for simple minded players who need all the inspiration possible, it'd be helpful to be able have the info more accessible. Perhaps info about other characters isn't really important in creating your own a character (I haven't had the chance to actually PLAY yet)? If it is not important, then it'd be nice to have more encouragement from…

  7. add narrator cpntact prior to a game.

It might be a good idea to have a way to contact the narrator of a game to ask questions before it starts. For example, I just joined a game that the narrator says will be based on Warhammer. Having never played it, I would have liked a chance to ask them if they wanted a novice before I went through all the effort to set up a character...

  8. Allow unlimited edits during the 10 minute time after submitting a move

Totally understand (and agree!) with having 10 minutes to review and make additional edits before a player move becomes final, However, the move is only available to edit once in that time period - if you miss something in that additional edit, you can't go back again, even if there is still time left. It would be helpful if, in that 10 minutes, players can access and edit their move as many times as they want.

As of our new Alpha 2 playtest (launching in days) you will be able to edit moves or scenes as many times as you like, for unlimited amounts of time, until someone else makes a move.

Closing this item because we already have one open that covers it, and because we’ve discussed the issue via email. Thanks for the feedback and sorry for your trouble — we will get this fixed!

  10. Multiple "Approved Characters" Tables bug

From the "manage your game" page I edited and added several cards. When I scrolled back to the top of the page, the "Approved Characters" table was repeated several times...perhaps corresponding to the number of edits I made?

  11. Allow Narrators to create stand alone NPCs

Currently there seems to be no way a narrator can create a character in his/her own game that would post under the character's own name instead of under the generic "Narrator" header. This could be a problem if a story develops more than one important NPC that needs to take turns. It would be easier to track these characters if they had their own profiles.

  12. Provide richer editing options for cards (And a bit more space!)

I'd like to be able to use bold, italics etc. on cards to fill out pertinent details. I also find the space on a card to be painfully limited for, say, a character.

The tips for markup are found in the “formatting help” link that’s in the lower-left corner of the move and scene creation interface. It’s not shown in the card interface yet, but card descriptions do support bold and italics.

Regarding your use of Storium to play Fate… all of us on the Storium team are huge Fate fans and it’s one of our inspirations. But I’m worried you may not be happy using Storium to simulate or reproduce that system.

That’s because Storium isn’t really a general purpose site for playing other game systems. Rather, it is its own system, one that is designed specifically for written-word collaborative storytelling that happens across space and time.

Systems like Fate have mechanics that make them shine at the game table, when everyone is together in the same time and place. But many of those things become problematic in an online context. That’s…

  13. Undo scene end, or allow text during scene end

I went to describe a dramatic failure, clicked end scene, picked the card, and no text box appeared allowing me to describe the end of the scene. That's a bit I odd I think, so I decide to undo the scene end, so I can describe things before I click end, nope, no option for that either. Now my scene is left hanging, but closed.

  14. Allow editing after submitting a move or scene

Seeing as it's possible for a person to make a typo or to forget to add a sentence they meant to include (both as a narrator and as a player), I think it would be a good idea to allow "posts" to be edited. At least for about 10 minutes after they were submitted. I believe that would be enough for someone to notice what was missing and correct it.

  15. Let us look at profiles, including characters & games

Let us click on people to see their profiles, along with allowing us to see what characters they have made and what games they are participating in. Possibly messaging or invite options as well. Something so if people like one of my games they can click on the other games I'm running that are accepting players or that let me see what kinds of characters they play.

  16. Outcomes Ending Contribution

When you choose an outcome you can no longer participate in a scene - why? Once we know it goes badly for you, why not allow some dialog to flesh that out?

  17. Have an option to give another player a card

People always give people things. If someone finds a compas, and their character thinks another might be able to use it better (or need it, for that matter,) they should be able to give it to them.
The card would then go into the recipients' deck.

Hi Cheryl, thanks for the feedback! You can actually do this already — when you make a new move and click on any of the Thing cards you’re holding, you will see a button that lets you give it to another player. Let me know if you run into problems trying this!

  18. Comment Emails Should Include the Comment Text

Notifications related to a new comment should include the text of the comment, as move notifications currently do.

FYI, this is done! Comment emails now include the comments themselves. If there have been a lot of comments within a short period of time, we also batch them up into a single email (and include the text for each comment) — much like how comments in Google Docs work.

  20. "Update All" image option

You should be able to select an image to replace the default on all cards of a type - so you upload one image and it replaces the default on all Goal cards, for example. Right now you repeat the process manually and that's tedious.
