  1. Clarify Winning Control

I'm finding my players are forgetting to narrate for NPCs or obstacles when they win control. These are story gamers that have no problem narrating beyond their characters, so I think they just don't think about it and need some additional prompting when they are given the narrative control.

I would suggest that when a player wins control the screen they get to enter narration be split into two parts - what they did and what the result was. Then require text in both fields in order to submit.

  2. Allow users to set what time of day they'd like to recieve their daily digest e-mail

Just a little setting in the user options, for e-mail updates, so you can get your daily digest e-mail whenever's convenient to you. Since we all live in different timezones, setting it up so we all get our digest e-mail after breakfast or whatever would be quite tough.

  3. Make scenes in advance

As a narrator I would like to be able to set up scenes in advance, so I can just make adjustments depending on previous scene outcomes and keep going right away. It would be great if I could set up 3-5 scenes in advance, perhaps just to set up the cards and leave the writing for later. Then I should be able to pick which pre-made scene I want to publish next, so I don't have to set them up in any particular order. I could prepare a couple of different scenes depending on where the previous scene is going,…

  4. Allow challenges that every player can face individually

As an example - I am trying to create a bouncer NPC, and each character should have to find a way past her (using a card that represents being the type of person she would let in, or a physical strength card, or a fast-talking card, for example). But each character needs to take this challenge up separately, it shouldn't be solved for the entire group by one person (the group are meeting inside the venue, not arriving together).

  5. copy and paste cards from one place to another

One more suggestion. It would be nice to be able to copy and paste cards from one place to another such as from one book to another or if a player has come up with an interesting strength or weakness, etc., it would be nice to copy and paste it into the book for others to use it.

  6. oracle

related to the prompts idea, it would be great to have a build-your-own oracle system. you could pick several elements or insert them. The system can then use the element in a question or prompt when you ask it to for a post. This can help give inspiration or twists when one is stuck on a post.

  7. Tell the narrator the change details when a player edits their character

As the narrator I'm only told when a player edits their character. I get no details as to what those changes actually are. A 'before and after' snapshot would help me so I can better plan my next scenes.

  8. Add a built in dictionary/thesaurus

While writing a scene & trying to avoid repeating the same words, I often want to look up synonyms. Having a thesaurus embedded right in the editor would be slick.

  9. include librarians in your Storium for Schools efforts.

In particular, school librarians and public librarians, since each specialty will have different insights that may be useful to that project. (I'm a different kind of librarian.)

  10. Add a notification when a favorite game is looking for players

I've noticed that if a game was started a while back but re-opens for new players, it ends up far down on the list because it's an older game. I think it would be great that if you have a game favorited and it re-opens for new players, you received some sort of notification or email letting you know that a favorite game of yours is accepting new players.

  11. Game Rules & Additions

I would like to see narrators with more options. For instance being able to add a maturity rating to restrict youth from joining and a way to determine how much God Modding will be allowed if any. I've seen the idea for a custom rules section to be brought back from the alpha site, that would be great.

    • Maturity Rating- In case we have a younger audience. If it is rated "Mature" perhaps Storium automatically blocks their ability to join the game.

    • Modding: I'd like to be able to see if the narrator plans to Mode my PC in a…

  12. different revisions text color

Could you change the color of the text that shows up when you request revisions from a player? Red makes the request feel like a punative measure, no matter how gently you phrase it, instead of an opportunity to fix mistakes or improve the story.

  14. Add challenge difficulty modifier

Certain challenges can be compounded by a player's actions. A revealing confession or in-game 'time delays' are just some examples of when a seemingly simple one-card challenge can escalate into a larger crisis. I hope you can allow the narrator to modify a challenge difficulty in the middle of the chapter and increase the level based on how the players are reacting without having to close the chapter and break the action.

  15. Make assets consumable or acted upon

Allow assets to be acted upon, such as eaten, destroyed, split, etc. For example, a pie could be eaten, a piece of candy could be crushed or split in two, or a shirt could be cut up.

  16. PC Information available only to Narrator

Players often develop very detailed histories for their characters, including information that may play into the plot but that they only want the Narrator to know until the appropriate time.

Having a section of the Character Sheet that is only visible to that player and the Narrator would allow this. It would also allow for more chances to integrate the players and the story more closely.

  17. Let me copy cards across categories.

Weird edge case, but I made up a few goals and then decided they'd be better as subplots. No way to change or copy them makes me sad. I could also imagine usefulness in some cases being able to copy between obstacle and asset categories.

  18. show the character name in commentary.

We get "(narrator)" and "(You)." I'd like "(character name)" as well. It would save the trouble of checking the side bar to make sure I know which character's writer I'm talking to.

  19. allow the "tooltip" details of a character to always be viewable whenever that avatar appears.

Right now if you click on an avatar in the Cast view, you see some tooltip style details. However say you have a long chapter and you just want to check out the details of who spoke before you. Right now you have to scroll all the way back to the top of the page. Instead, it should be the case that wherever the avatar of a character appears, clicking that avatar should show the "tooltip"

  20. allow narrators to write additional cues that are revealed upon objective completion.

In addition to the general public information given for strong and weak outcomes, I suggest that it should be possible to give additional specifics that are unlocked upon completion of an obstacle, to allow for greater intrigue.

For example, playing a hard-boiled detective story (or other mystery), a character surveying the scene of the crime could have a "look for clues" obstacle with the strong outcome of "find a good clue" and a weak outcome of "it feels like we're missing something." The narrator knows who the killer is, and therefore what clue there is to be found. However putting…
