Reviews/Feedback when starring
Think of it like a guest book. When I star something I can leave both a public and a private message. Such as:
Public: Great read, thoroughly enjoyed!
Private: This is amazing, I've been wanting to get in on a game of such quality, if you ever need an addition let me know!1 vote -
implement spoiler tags
Sometimes, especially in a mystery story, the results of a challenge could be a spoiler. This is even if the player is making up most of the details; sometimes the nature of the potential details is a spoiler.
Similarly, there might be times when the narrator wants some text to be only available to certain players, say, during a narration. (I'm imagining a situation where some characters notice some details, and some notice others.)
The solution would be a "spoiler" tag like many forums have. It would either make the text the same color as the background (highlight with your…

Have a Character Action Tracker
I envision something like the comments section, but for a brief update on the last character action and/or placement in the scene. It shouldn't be an ongoing or continual list. It would have one update per character. Something like this:
Char #1 - unconscious in hallway
Char #2 - connected to cybernet in netbay 1
Char #3 - connected to cybernet in netbay 3
Char #4 - sneaking into netbay 3 behind char #3
Char #5 - haggling with shopkeep over price to rent netbays
Char #6 - doing drugs in netbay 2I see this being very helpful in…

Higher Resolution Images
Currently all uploaded images suffer from a considerable amount of quality loss, stretching and .jpg artifacts. It's rather frustrating to make or find a perfect, crisp HD picture only for it to turn into a blurry mess (especially for someone planning to do their own custom art for a game). If the issue is the bandwidth related to the size of the image in kbs or mbs, maybe consider putting in a certain size limit without requiring for all images to look sloppy? I'm a bit of an image quality purist and allowing for higher quality in Storium images would…

OOC comments on individual posts.
For example, character A makes a really sweet move (funny, dramatic, etc) and everyone wants to laud that player, so they post their praise to the OOC comments on the right. Player B has been at work and unable to get on all day and first sees the comments, which ruin the awesome move for them before they can read it. Allowing players to put comments on specific posts (praise for a cool post or exploring a topic raised by that post) would allow for a more general, less cluttered main comment section where players can get a more general…

show 'last posted' time when showing a character's info.
When I click a character, or go to a character's page, it would be nice to see when the character last posted. It might be a little easier in post heavy games to make sure no one is being left behind.

Secondary email address in profile
It would be good to have an optional secondary email address in the account profile in case the first email address becomes inaccessible. Logging in could be with either address.

allow editing of character submission
After submitting a character for narrator approval I realized there were several typos in my submission. Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be any way of editing my submission to fix the typos.
Would be great if people could edit their submission until it's reviewed by the narrator.

Make it possible to reply to comments via email
I get an email notification that the moderator for our game has made a comment on my character. I do not know how to respond to a question he posed other than send him a personal email. It would be nice if Storium had a link in the email which would allow me to respond.

Collaborative Draft Editing
TL;DR - Allow moves to be reviewed/edited by everyone before final submission, per approval of the move author. Perhaps include co-authoring moves.
Generally, in a GM/Player setup, players only control their own character, while the GM controls all facets of the environment and NPCs. Storium is not like other games, though, since gameplay takes the form of writing. Players are, of course, not limited by the system to use NPCs or other PCs in their submissions, but they also aren't encouraged to, and trying to do so has some risk.
Only writing for one's own character can become very limiting,…

include a button for when a player is out of ideas
This is like passing in a tabletop game. Players could click on it with the option of coming back in later if something changes. If everyone passes, then the narrator knows to move forward.

allow favoriting from browse view
The game banners look the same in browse view and the game's detailed view. They should act the same way. IMHO. Sirs. And Madams.

Separate scroll on character sidebar
Hey guys, it would be great if the character sidebar was in it's own separate scroll such that we didn't have to keep scrolling up and down when the story has moved past the end of the screen.

Longevity and archiving
I didn't see anything about longevity in the terms and conditions. I'd really appreciate a commitment that we aren't going to lose these stories we're creating.
I'd also like to be able to take a copy of the story, though you may have commercial reasons why you don't want that to be simple.
Could you at least commit to making a downloadable copy of any story available for a couple of months before that story is deleted (or the site is shut down)?
1 voteWe are already planning to provide a story export feature, but it’s a good idea to also be clearer about our commitment to preserving your data — which, btw, is strong!

Better access to favorites
When I find a game I want to follow and star it, it can then be difficult to find it again. Could the "Favorites" page include a list of the starred games? In fact, I'd like it to follow the pattern of the home page, with the games centred and the activity as a secondary column down one side.
Greate site generally though!

More editing controls
Would be nice to bold, italic, color change, font change, text size change my narrative. I run a web design company, oldest in NY, we have been providing DHTML controls for many years, allowing users to edit pages from a CMS with these type of changes...

Change the email subject lines
I read these emails on my smartphone and the story being the last thing is kind of a pain, since they get cut off.
I'd say a format more like:
[Storium] STORY_NAME: blurb-about-what happened.
For example:
[Storium] Moose Habitat: New comments.
[Storium] Moose Habitat: So and So moved.
[Storium] Moose Habitat: Narrator ended the scene. At the very least remove some unnecessary words in "ended the current scene in".. that alone is so long it runs off and I can't see which game I'm playing has ended a scene.
Minor inconvenience, but worth looking into.

Ammo/ammunition cards or subcards.
If I give my player a gun, I want him/her to be able to use it more than once. But if I give that player three gun cards, he/she can pass them to other players. It would be nice to have cards that work as ammunition for other cards.

Add narrative style points to the basic guide.
The mechanics of the game play are very well laid out and guide you through how to face challenges step-by-step, but there's no guidance on what you should write. I'd like to see the basic game guide include notes on:
- how much detail to include.
- incorporating other characters into your action and resolution.
- taking the story forward when you have control of the narrative.
- dealing with weak or uncertain outcomes.
- deferring to other players within your narrative.I think some more detailed guidance on what you should be writing are as necessary as the current…
