@Anthony Working in an intent-to-move might help. That is, a player sees something and wants to respond, he can now wait for the stick. Before taking off for the weekend, unflag it. Or something similar.

How about adding a (default) time limit to the stick?

Also, add notes to each game. Especially when there are a few days between turns, it's hard to remember what i was thinking, watching out for, or planning to do. Allow me to add private notes on an overview page would help with that.

I submitted an idea that is a little more comprehensive. I think the list needs to be changed, not added to: https://storium.uservoice.com/forums/211322-general/suggestions/5957440-games-overview

Regardless, this is a good idea.

Same idea, posted first, less votes, more comments, here: http://storium.uservoice.com/forums/211322-general/suggestions/5626351-allow-shared-narration

Perhaps the votes should be consolidated there.

I would like this as an option. Some players won't care.

Similarly, when creating a story, added cards are "moved" into alphabetical order. I would like an option to highlight those or allow them not to be reordered. I already re-created a card because i couldn't find it at first!

Thanks very much for that thoughtful feedback. This is one of the key mechanisms we are evaluating in this playtest, so it’s great to hear what you think about it.

The idea behind this mechanism is the “winner gets to narrate” model encourages people to play more cards sooner and make moves faster, so as to win control more often. Essentially, it’s a carrot to motivate people to “play harder”. And since playing your cards gets you closer to getting new cards, it is always a good thing to do it, even when you don’t end up winning the challenge.

Now, whether or not this is all actually true — and effective — remains to be seen. We’re keeping a close eye on it and will keep your feedback in mind for sure! Stay tuned…

I ran into this as well. I played after the other players and was expected to get all four characters to talk to each other. I was a little uneasy writing how each player would respond, even though i was okay with directing the method.

All the players should be able to write the outcome! This form of collaboration would be hard, and might encourage people to wait, as stated in the feedback.

I wish to offer offer a solution:

    Solution 1:
Outcome is a separate box where each player writes their *expectation*.
Actual outcome written by final player, constrained by earlier expectations.

    Solution 2:
Outcome is a separate box available to all players, like a wiki.

    In both cases,
Outcome is only continued when all players vote they agree.
Narrator can accept or rewrite when there is too much conflict.

Perhaps the amount of cards one plays will give greater influence on the outcome.

I agree with C David Dent. Check boxes or tags would be nice. The variety in people's comfort is expansive, and less options can seem like to definitive. But too many options and people will ignore them.

If the player clicks on “Browse your cards” they can actually “rewrite” their asset card to turn it into something else — anything that makes sense in the story! In this way, the player gets to keep their cards — and the narrative power that they provide — but can adjust them to what makes sense in the story right now. Rewriting an Asset costs one card, which prevents the feature from being abused. And as narrator, you can push back if a player rewrites an Asset in a way that seems inappropriate.

Rewriting a card doesn't cut it for me. Trading in a card for a new one does, or tagging, which is forceful, but not too strong handed.

    For example:

Stephen uses his sword to slay the evil vampire.
Benjamin (story teller) tags Stephen's sword as "nicked".

Perhaps, perhaps, Stephen can trade in his "Sword (nicked)" for a new card, "Nicked Sword".

Once an item is tagged, it may no longer make sense to use in a challenge. For example, a Sword (rusted) would not do well in leveraging a heavy rock. Or, a Cloak (burnt) would not service to cover one's modesty.

Tagging could even be used as a strength, or "buff" to use the vernacular, for x moves or uses:

Stephen dips the sword in the strange ooze to pick up his dropped keys.
Benjamin tags Stephen's Sword (cursed (1 use)) meaning it might not work well in the next swing of the sword.

I like the idea but am also uneasy about it. Some pictures are just freaky, for example, someone here has an avatar of just their eye, which i find mildly disturbing. (No offense intended Mischa).

Pictures mean many things to many people, and may affect the NSFW flag as well.
