An error occurred while saving the comment Jonathan Lawn commentedEach post has a DB entry, doesn't it? Could that not just be used as a fragment identifier in the HTML?
This would be very useful for community discussions too.

An error occurred while saving the comment Jonathan Lawn commentedLooking at this from another angle, I'd just like to be able to exceed the total number of pips that could be played by my players, so that we know from the start that they'll not complete all tasks. The "2 pips remaining" warning when setting up the challenge/outcome is good, but I'd like to be able to deliberately go into the red and save the result.
The greying out of an optional challenge before it is played is a nice idea still though.

An error occurred while saving the comment Jonathan Lawn commentedCurrently, there are three ways I know of to try to find a game.
- Checking each new item in Forums->Looking for players
- Scanning down Browse->Looking for players
- Slack channel "Will to play"These are dispersed and each involve a number of clicks. How about a unified experience with less clicks.
- Add "Looking for players" button on the front page
- This leads to the current "looking for players" list (currently off the Browse button)
but the page is augmented with a link to the "looking for players" forum and an open commentary thread (which hopefully might replace the Slack channel, or you could just have a link to the Slack channel, with the appropriate disclaimer!). -

An error occurred while saving the comment Jonathan Lawn commentedThere are a lot of requests relating to Favorites, and I really think that this would be a valuable focus for improvements, as it can turn the site from being friendly for players to being friendly for observers too (and players in the mood for observing) which will dramatically improve the immersive experience for those who read as well as write.
(I'm not referring to the requests to see who is setting you or your game as favorite - that's a separate issue.)
For me, the UI I want is the favorites button to lead to two lists: a list of games I've favorited and a list of players I've favourited. This should lead to one or two feeds of notifications. (Or, I know someone has requested a feed of notifications for favorites and their own games. That's not the default I want, but suggests that a single feed with a filter allowing you to choose which of the three feeds should be intermingled would work best.)
Thanks, Jon

An error occurred while saving the comment Jonathan Lawn commentedStalled games must be one of the biggest causes of disillusionment with Storium. Only narrator absence is automatically fatal for a game. I don't think there'd be a risk of coups.
I'd suggest that Storium automatically emails a narrator after one week, two weeks and three weeks of inactivity on any given game, and after three weeks allows some form of takeover. A fair automatic process for takeover might take a bit of work (a voting system?) but perhaps a human admin could manage it until then (just joining the game and asking for comments)?

We will soon be adding the ability for the narrator to explicitly specify which characters are in a given scene. Would that help a bit?
Meanwhile, you can visually segment the action in a scene by using a horizontal rule (“
-” in our layout syntax). Note also that the system does not require that players make a move in every scene. So you can ask someone to “sit this one out” and the scene will be able to progress just fine. Hopefully these techniques can get you un-stuck for the time being?Regarding simultaneous scenes, we’ve received this suggestion from a couple of other users, too, and so we are thinking hard about how we could add it to Storium without making things difficult to use and understand. It’s high on our list so please stay tuned.
Thanks for the feedback!
An error occurred while saving the comment Jonathan Lawn commentedI'm currently running a split scene and I think it works. If you want to keep the formal, screenplay style then
- allow a second location aftr showing a warning
- each continue had to select a location
- each location needs a narrator end
- every player move is now tagged with one location
- any player who has player who pkayed before the second loc was dexlared is in the first loc.
- Any other is asked on their first turn where they are.
- You could also allow the narrator to assign locationsaJonathan Lawn supported this idea · -

An error occurred while saving the comment Jonathan Lawn commentedLike raphael I ask what challenges they want but it would formalise it if chalkenges were marked as optional.

We are already planning to provide a story export feature, but it’s a good idea to also be clearer about our commitment to preserving your data — which, btw, is strong!

An error occurred while saving the comment Jonathan Lawn commentedNote to "Anonymous commented · May 22, 2014 5:51 AM" though. You can already click on the narrator name to get to their profile, and that list their other games.
An error occurred while saving the comment Jonathan Lawn commentedI agree. A way to search through the games is probably the only thing I'd say was really missing from the site: to find games to join, to find games to follow (or read once they are complete) and to check for similar games to one you are planning.
Genre and status (forming, in progress, abandoned or complete) are the most important, plus some of the options you already have in Browse, but tags and a full text search or the story would be great too (though perhaps google can provide the latter).

Yes please.
And at the same time can you also sort out the fact that emails have the title "<nickname> (<character>) made a move" but "<first name> edited their move". Just use the first format for every email and never use <first name> please!
