Where are you developers?
You say you'll try to interact more with the community, but then proceed to disregard the comment. We are not asking for a lot. Just pop in regularly, say a few things, take a few minutes of your day to do anything that signals that you are here. It's not hard! Especially now that StoriumEdu is released, I don't understand why this is so difficult. I suggest you check out the Hidden Community thread in the forums as well.
I am very grateful for what you've created, but come on! How hard is it? We're just asking for some interaction!…

Search button
You know the story's name but don't want to search game by game in the lists (looking for players, newly started etc...). A search button would be great!

give more details about, and word-processor functions to, moves/narrations
this includes, but is not limited to:
a running word counter at all times while you're typing a move, rather than the "x words left" that currently exists.
a note of how many words any individual move is, so people can get a better idea of what x words looks like before making a move.
buttons for italics, bold, etc, rather than memorization of formatting, even if said buttons just input the formatting necessary (i.e. asterisks, carrots, dashes, etc) for you.

Make notifications deleteable
I feel like people should be able to close/delete notifications; for example, things like 'It's time to make a move in X' or 'consider concluding the scene in X' aren't actually updates, which is what I feel notifications should primarily be, so I'd like to be able to remove those notifications from my list. Thank you :)

Refresh the most followed games section!
I was hoping that every month or so, the most followed games section would be refreshed. Only displaying games that have moved considerably in that time. That way new players could see the current most followed games. Maybe even have an on the rise section?

add an off-topic or multiple non-Storium-related topics to forums.
I have found that in many cases, I have come to like people on this site who I have played with or chatted with elsewhere for far more than just their writing abilities. However, the forums only have options to talk about things directly related to games and gameplay.
I heard kai say that things would be better if we could talk to each other without always talking about Storium directly.
Therefore, I suggest you have either an "off-topic" or multiple non-Storium-related categories on the forums. This would allow the forums to serve as a place where Storium users could…

Allow Open Lobby without listing game as Looking for Group
I like the idea of allowing a peanut gallery to comment on the game as it progesses. Maybe even offer suggestions or talk about the game as it happens. Like people watching a TV show together.
But leaving the Lobby open for this discourse also sets the game to Looking for Group, which will confuse people who are trying to find games. So as it is, it's not really going to work.

RSS Feed for New Games
It'd be great to be notified when new games are posted at https://storium.com/games so we could get the jump on finding a new game when someone starts it. An RSS feed would be, in theory, a great way to accomplish that

More interaction from the Storium creators and More capability to join the community!
Basically, I was hoping for more interaction from the Storium creators signalling that they are still alive and they are acknowledging the players. When you first join the sight, the lack of announcements and signals that the site is live causes you to initially stumble around aimlessly. Only if you're lucky enough to come across the right people, the 'world' per se, becomes open to you. Otherwise, tough luck. I was very lucky and stumbled upon the thriving community in one of my first games and have since jumped upon the bandwagon, though I worry for those who are unlucky…
1 voteThank you for the direct and constructive feedback. We are definitely here and working hard. We know we need to do a better job of being visible, and will try to do so!
A lot of our work lately has been focused on StoriumEdu, a new verison of Storium that is designed for educational use (to help build students’ skills and motivation as writers). Our goal with StoriumEdu is to reach more people, have a bigger impact, and (last but not least) establish a sustainable business which in turn enables us to hire more folks to help with Storium.com!
If you’re up for it, could you elaborate on what you mean when you say you’d like “a function to help bring new players to the somewhat hidden community”? Thanks!

Make it possible to have "guest star" characters.
Hi! So, I think that it would be a good idea for stories to have "guest star" characters that would be played by a user for a single scene. This would allow a lot more potential for depth and detail for characters that are only present for a single scene, which would be good for the narrator, players, story, and everyone on Storium.
This quote is from me on the #storium-chat on Slack on December 29, 2018:
"I think a good random example would be; I have a game, Game X, and I want a potential character in my game,…

Private character notes
Have a section for players where they can add private notes about their characters. It could be background information, secret subplot ideas, characters or cities they want to remember or more.

Blog gone?
Hi,
it looks like the blog link at the bottom of the page now takes you to the tumblr homepage, via a redirect.

Rich Text Editor
I'm kind of surprised Storium doesn't have this yet, and it would really speed up posting without having to go back and edit formatting mistakes and such several times. Is this something we can look forward to, including the ability to put coloured text and images into our posts?

make "Name your character" easy to find.
Creating a character, all but the name. There's no place to put the name.

add a way to highlight excellent prose
Sometimes some truly excellent prose is written in Storium. It would be nice to flag/highlight/thumbs-up/applaud really top quality work for future readers and or future reference.
At present, the indicators of excellent quality writing are the number of followers (stars) and if the story has been featured before. It would be nice to have something more fine-grain.
Also, it would be nice for people coming afterwards to leave their applause for well-written sections of a story.

an FAQ for common questions & problems
i run into minor issues from time to time that have nothing to do with how to play storium, which is the only thing it talks about in the Help section. i think it would be extremely helpful if there were an easily accessible FAQ

make it so non members can have more charcters
This would make it so more beginner stories would sprout up. We need those. Lots more people would join your site and write stories. You've got a good website that has a chance to be great.

Customize Card Orientation
Allow narrators to choose between landscape and portrait orientation for card art. This greatly widely art options as well as solving the problem of how/where to align the card type overlay on images.

distinguish between inline/block pre/code text
The current markdown processes (A) lines which begin with four spaces, (B) text enclosed by ticks (
text
), and (C) text enclosed by three ticks (text
) as <pre>.Could we instead use
for inline (potentially not fenced/without a background, just plaintext/monospace) and
`` for preformatted blocks? Otherwise, it seems we have three unique bits of syntax that do exactly the same thing.1 vote -
give notification-triggering @user mentions visually distinct formatting
The ability to @ someone in game comments is great, but this feature is not consistent across the site.
Would it be possible to make it so that an @ mention which has triggered a notification is somehow visibly distinct from regular text? Changing the font weight or linking to the user's Storium profile (if they're a valid user) would be sufficient I think.
