  1. Players can request revisions

There should be an ability for the players to request revisions. Either because of it's something that falls under gross misconduct by the storyteller, or to request that the storyteller make something more clear.

  2. Let strengths and weaknesses be separate from the cards that you play

Not a suggestion so much as a thought. I'm not convinced it would make the game better:

I'm really loving the redesign. My only problem with the game that we're playing at the moment is that I have x strength and weakness cards, but those qualities don't disappear from my character when I run out of cards.

It would be nice to simply have those cards noted in my character archive (particular strengths, particular weaknesses) and have a hand full of generic strength / weakness cards, that I could then play (using those strengths / weaknesses) at various times.

    The…

  3. Allow narrator to turn off automatic poke

I see that it's planned to allow narrators to tag specific characters for a scene, which is great. Coupled with that, can you make it so that when a narrator does that, it turns off the "it's time to make your move" emails for those not tagged? I'm currently waiting through a scene that my character isn't in and while I can always just ignore those emails, I'd rather not have to.

  4. Enable embedded video clips to serve same purpose as images.

I am a newbie to Storium and learning how it all works..but i have an idea based on the fact users can place images along with their stories..

There is a new webapp from Mozilla called Popcorn maker, basically in a nutshell this is like an online video editor where you can search for video clips on youtube and mash them together with other clips, be it have a several videos playing at once overlapped or single frame. The user can mute the audio, and run their own music over top (i think) this then can be shared and embedded…

  5. Change the Effect of an Uncertain Outcome

Currently I feel there is nothing to differentiate completing a challenge with an Uncertain Outcome from making a move that does not complete a challenge. (By playing a non-completing card, or not playing a card at all). By leaving the outcome entirely up to the narrator, it feels like there is nothing to incentivise the player to complete a challenge in this way.

While there are tactical benefits to playing cards early and often, there are also benefits to marshalling them. Playing a card to complete a challenge with an uncertain outcome therefore feels like a wasted card, as it…

  6. have a mechanic for Character Death

I like games (especially in the Cthulhu vein) where character death, dismemberment or otherwise negative affectations can happen. I'd love to be able to give out Weakness Cards that are "Madnesses" or something to that effect, or have the ability to on a Weak (or maybe allow for a worse than Weak) completion of an obstacle -- the character could die.

  7. Merge Favorite Activity into Notifications

As a user I want to track the activity in my games as well as those of my favorite games and favorite players in one notification list.

Right now to track favorites I have to go to another location. I think that the usability of tracking down favorites would be to integrate it into the existing notifications list. This would require some different treatment for your game notifications and favorites (the image I provided is a 2 minute chrome HTML hacking to roughly illustrate the point).

  8. "Nature" could be a positive card once per chapter.

That way it has some mechanical weight, but not too much. As it is, the nature provides nothing but flavor text. It should help the character somehow.

  9. Narrow Search & Preview Game & Profile Pages

I would like to have the ability to narrow searches. Right now I do not see this being a problem but later I can see searching through pages and pages being frustrating. It would be nice to be able to search first by Open Invitation and through those by genre and through those by letter or any combination of. Also a search function for keywords would be excellent.

Once you have found a potential game I think it is just as important to be able to see where that game is and interview the game via visual survey and approve…

  10. Allow character edits before the story starts.

Unless I've misunderstood something, Open Invited players can't revise their character without a Narrator Requesting Revision, and it doesn't seem that's even an option for directly invited players. I invited a bunch of my friends and we all rushed through character creation and now it seems we are stuck with a lot of identical Strengths and Weaknesses.

  11. allow multiple place scenes to be played, both at the beginning and during a scene

I would like to see the ability to play multiple place cards added.

The model of Storium in most ways seems to support the idea that scenes are run by story events. It seems odd that only one Place card can be played by scene. If the players move to a new room without fundamentally changing the scene, as a narrator don't want to break the flow of the scene by ending it, but it seems a little pointless to have Place cards without using them. Currently, people seem to be doing multiple locations through scene description and markup, and…

  12. Narrator's notes section on the cards

It would be handy if each card had a section only the Narrator could see - a kind of 'secret notes of this character', where you could put quick notes to remember things like "never uses contractions" or "remember, police station is around the corner from here".

  14. Story level

When i am looking for a story to join, i'd like to see a couple things:

    1) Involvement: What level of involvement is the story creator asking? Light, normal, or serious Light meaning not much thought is required or even wanted for the move. Normal meaning give it thought but don't try too hard. Serious meaning some good thought and serious role playing.

    2) Purpose: What is the story for? Is it a test whether testing the system, a world, or even players? Is it for beginners or for advanced players?

While these can be mentioned in the description, a…

  15. Editing Characters after submitted (but before playing)

I noticed that after you submitted a character, and pending approval, you cannot edit it -- only before you submit it or after you've been approved to play.

This makes it really annoying when you just caught mistakes or you realize someone submitted already a character too similar to yours, etc. Allowing this change could make people actually avoid being refused.

  17. Assets to have an option of being positive or negative

I would like to have the option of giving an asset a positive or negative value, in addition to the neutral value already in existence.

For example, a 'gun' could have either a positive or negative value attached to it, depending upon the genre. So forex in a Pulp scenario it could be postive, in a Dr Who type scenario it would be negativ

  18. Allow narrators to make another player a co-narrator.

Many campaigns work well with multiple narrators, especially if parties split and re-form, or if one person runs plot and the other runs NPCs. A narrator should be able to make a second player a co-narrator of the game they are a member of.

  19. Create Asset Cards that are expire with the scene or chapter

To keep players from amassing asset cards that are useless after a situation has passed, or to enable the narrator to give situational benefits to players, would it be possible to create asset cards that had a set lifespan, such as the end of a scene or the end of a chapter.

This would also encourage players to use them in a timely manner. Helpful for them and the narrator.

  20. include a button for when a player is out of ideas

This is like passing in a tabletop game. Players could click on it with the option of coming back in later if something changes. If everyone passes, then the narrator knows to move forward.
