  1. Give each game a Links Page

This would allow narrators to provide players with a list of links to off-site reference pages for their games. Many of us use places like LiveJournal, WordPress, or Google Docs to store useful information, such as character lists, culture info, etc. that cannot be conveniently stored on Storium.

  2. develop an optional pacing mechanic.

Have an optional system that allows the narrator to set deadlines for a scene in real time. When the deadline passes, the scene closes except for the narrator getting to put in a closing post.

  3. Allow narrators to add assets and goals without having to write a move

Right now if you want to add assets and goals you have to write a move that accompanies it, even if it doesn't contribute anything to the story at the time. There are moments in a story when it makes sense for the narrator to be able to just throw things in without interrupting what the players are up to.

In the current design of Storium, any card actions have to be associated with a move. However, as the narrator you can edit the parts of the scene you’ve already written and add the card actions there. So you don’t actually have to add new moves. Does it help to know that?

  4. Timestamps within roleplay posts.

The idea is that on a many forums roleplays you have the idea of timestamps it is how narrators and players keep eye on the time and understand when events are taking place.

It would be three options and forth one is optional.

The three ones would be outside the post seperate to the space you type, but once you post they would appear above it in bold.

    Time - Date - Year

You could select different times, different years and dates. The only problamatic one would be year, but that could have option for custom year.

    Location the forth…

  5. Add a "publish scene" button

This would help people who wanted to work offline on their next post. There should be a button which publishes the story or scene to a rich text note or similar. Then it can be copied and pasted into word or email etc.

  6. Notification customization

The notification system is beyond helpful. Prevents myself, one of the most unorganised humans digitally, from forgetting that I have an activity with friends. But it'd be great to customise what the email notifications send. Just having a simple message that says "A new comment was made" or "A new move was made by..." It sounds trivial but if the email is a shared one it allows for some enjoyable anonymity from those who might want to keep content private.

  7. Narrator Autopost function

In some games, like the one I am running now, would benefit greatly from a narrator being able to have posts ready in advance when challenges are completed.

For example - The challenge is: "there's a closed door - do you open it?" The moment the players complete that challenge the result (aka what is behind the door) is automatically posted regardless of whether the narrator is around or not.

  8. Expand Character Details

It would be nice if there were more fields for character attributes, like age or backstory, that could be used to flesh out a character, maybe even a way to post one-shot side stories about each character.

  9. Rename "vacation mode" to something clearer

The new vacation mode bugs me because vacation isn't a word here in the UK and it doesn't apply to every away situation.

Renaming it to something such as Active mode would make much more sense.

  10. Optimize site for mobile - meta viewport tag NEEDED

Please include a meta viewport tag in your site at the very least. It seems like you use angular, and I'm sure there are useful plugins to make transition to mobile easier (such as http://mobileangularui.com/). Most people nowadays use mobile, tablet, and touch devices, and website design has now switched to a mobile-first approach. I think the loads of new game features and content can wait and that you guys should focus on a mobile design foremost. I myself am a web designer focusing on mobile-first approaches and have even looked into angular. I will be happy to help…

  12. not show completed games in the 'games you are participating in' box.

IMO, if you are participating in games but don't want them on your home screen, they are likely to be slow, on hiatus, continuing but your involvement is complete (say it's in its last scene and you know your character is done). If a game is complete, you are no longer 'participating' in it and those games clutter up the list. It's easy enough to find your completed games from your profile, so please take them out.

  13. have the Narrator tutorial talk at least a little bit about planning a game.

For people new to Storium, I think one has to go and find a blog post in order to get advice on some fundamentals on how one goes about planning a game. Sure, the tutorial is great at showing some of the basics on how the cards work, but I think what is needed is to help newbies start thinking about how to set up a game from a story perspective. In other words, how to think about a game from the Narrator's perspective, what needs to be prepared in advance, and what should organically arise during play. Even though…

  14. Hold Narrators/Hosts Accountable

I don't know precisely how you would implement this, but I sure wish there was some check on the enormous number of hosts/narrators I've seen who set their game speed to the 'normal' 2-3 scenes per week, but actually move it along more like one scene every two weeks. Narrators/hosts should be called out by the system for not even trying to stick to their posted speed.

  15. Bug fix: "Nudge Players" Narrator option just spins when selected, never completes

When I selected the "nudge players" for my game "Scrapjack: A Knack for Trouble" ( https://storium.com/game/scrapjack-a-knack-for-trouble/chapter-1/scene-2 ) the spinner appeared but never stopped.

in looking in the console, the 'poke' command returned a 200 so great, but there was an error reported in the console itself.

Perhaps in resetting the button state from busy to "complete"?

  16. make pre-made character cards transfer/copy to player cards

When creating pre-made characters, narrators create a nature and other cards for these characters. Those cards should populate the player cards section automatically so they are available for selection to the player base. Right now, if I want to have the same nature assigned to a pre-made and available as a player option, I have to make the card twice. I recognize that if I create a nature as a player option first it is made available to pre-made characters, I think it should also work the other way around. Thanks!

  17. Change the Subplot card icon

I'm not a fan of the pennant icon for Subplot. It doesn't seem to speak "I AM A SUBPLOT" and it's a little too close to the Goal icon.

Perhaps something like a bent arrow, forked path, or detour sign might more clearly identify what it represents.

Thanks for the feedback, I totally see what you mean. We really struggled with this icon because Subplot cards are functionally VERY similar to Goal cards — they are both things that your character is working towards, and in both cases you earn a reward once you play all the cards.

That said, agree that the similarity could be confusing. We’ll give this more thought, and really appreciate the suggestions.

  18. Movable request revisions dialog

When requesting revisions, you can't see the original text, since the Request Revisions pop up is directly over it.

Maybe have it appear off to one side or as a movable dialog?

  19. Rearrange moves and past moves

In writing my move, I'm having to scroll up and down quite a bit to refer to the opening scene details and past moves. Perhaps moving the "Your move" box to below "Commentary" would help.

I fully admit that this might not be an ideal layout.

  20. Call out that players can't play cards without an obstacle in the scene.

I created my first scene entirely with goal cards, which confused players who wanted to play cards from their hands. If I understood that obstacles allowed / forced card play, and they understood that no obstacle meant no cards were allowed / required, that would have made the opening scene smoother.
