An error occurred while saving the comment LucyPenrose commentedI just changed a subplot card for a character whose loyalty changed. Luckily, this change isn't announced to the other players... so they'll be in for quite a surprise when this card is invoked!
It might be cool to hide this from other players, though I'm not fully convinced. Having the ability to swap cards as narrator/host (and being able to do so silently) sounds like a good alternative. An error occurred while saving the comment LucyPenrose commentedHaving the ability to create cards outside of stories would be great. Cards could then be imported into a story. A marketplace where cards can be shared could be useful, but I worry about over-saturation.
Good filtering options would have to be available once the marketplace is populated. Maybe a filter that limits the visible cards to people you follow, and the ability to filter on a specific user, and searching for cards by name or description?

An error occurred while saving the comment LucyPenrose commentedThis would be very useful to have, at least in the sense of having the ability to copy a character that was used in a previous game.
I'm not sure about the implementation. The way I see it, there are two ways:
1. Allow players to keep their custom characters with them. When they join a game they can create a new character, pick from pre-made characters, or choose an existing character that they've previously used.
2. Allow narrators to import characters from other games as pre-made characters.
I think the most flexible approach is that a Storium user may have a list of characters that they maintain outside of games, and these can be used as templates when creating characters. This would save time, but would still allow characters to be modified to suit an individual story.

We will soon be adding the ability for the narrator to explicitly specify which characters are in a given scene. Would that help a bit?
Meanwhile, you can visually segment the action in a scene by using a horizontal rule (“
-” in our layout syntax). Note also that the system does not require that players make a move in every scene. So you can ask someone to “sit this one out” and the scene will be able to progress just fine. Hopefully these techniques can get you un-stuck for the time being?Regarding simultaneous scenes, we’ve received this suggestion from a couple of other users, too, and so we are thinking hard about how we could add it to Storium without making things difficult to use and understand. It’s high on our list so please stay tuned.
Thanks for the feedback!

An error occurred while saving the comment LucyPenrose commentedAn error occurred while saving the comment LucyPenrose commentedUpvoted. I think it should be possible for the narrator to decide which characters participate in a given scene. By default, all characters participate.
When a character is excluded, they may still make moves and contribute to the story if they want (it's up to the host's rules if they are allowed) but they can't play any cards for that scene.
That sounds like the most flexible approach.

For me, this has a lot to do with loyalty changes and PvP.
An error occurred while saving the comment LucyPenrose commentedI've encountered a situation where I needed this too. A player's loyalty changed mid-game which required their subplot card to be changed. This time, I was able to edit the subplot card as the narrator because I made it myself and this player was the only one using that particular subplot.
I'm in favor of the narrator having more control of the players, particularly when the license is set to "Host License" which could be used denote that the narrator/host has this kind of control.

An error occurred while saving the comment LucyPenrose commentedI think this is a great feature, but I think it would be even better if we had the ability to do both at the same time.
Yes please! See also: https://storium.uservoice.com/forums/211322-general/suggestions/5634457-allow-for-player-card-inventory-editing
I think the narrator/host should have the most control, especially when the license is set to Host License.
