game limits
It may be a good idea to put a limit to how many games a person can narrate at one time as well as how many games a person can be participating in at one time. While I am sure that there are some people out there that are multi tasking masters I have looked over many profiles and there are people narrating twenty something games while also having charecters in another dozen or more games. Meanwhile they have 20, 30, 40 suspended games and numerous games they have quit or that have failed. Having a gaming limit could tighten…

allow narrators to rearrange scenes
In one of the games I'm playing, the end time of the last scene (let's call it Scene 4 to make this easier to follow) is "Day 3, 10am". But one character was not present for either of those scenes - the last scene this character was in was Scene 2. Originally, Scene 5 was going to feature all three characters at Day 3, 11am, but then the narrator and player decided to have another scene with just them - that would take place at Day 3, 2am - right after Scene 2. It would be really handy for readability…

Add Decks or Tags for Narrator cards
As a narrator who enjoys mechanic-heavy games with large numbers of unique cards and the current options for card organization are a little on the lean side as-is.
Currently, a Narrator has to go through a very long list of cards on a very small selection interface to hunt down what they need.
A feature that allows Narrators to organize Obstacle/Character, Asset, and Goal cards into Decks would be extremely helpful.
For instance, if a player character were going to schmooze at a party, a narrator might use:
Deck: Schmancy Party
- Obstacle: Traffic Jam
- Obstacle: That Stain on…7 votes -
give notification-triggering @user mentions visually distinct formatting
The ability to @ someone in game comments is great, but this feature is not consistent across the site.
Would it be possible to make it so that an @ mention which has triggered a notification is somehow visibly distinct from regular text? Changing the font weight or linking to the user's Storium profile (if they're a valid user) would be sufficient I think.

Rich Text Editor
I'm kind of surprised Storium doesn't have this yet, and it would really speed up posting without having to go back and edit formatting mistakes and such several times. Is this something we can look forward to, including the ability to put coloured text and images into our posts?

Allow Open Lobby without listing game as Looking for Group
I like the idea of allowing a peanut gallery to comment on the game as it progesses. Maybe even offer suggestions or talk about the game as it happens. Like people watching a TV show together.
But leaving the Lobby open for this discourse also sets the game to Looking for Group, which will confuse people who are trying to find games. So as it is, it's not really going to work.

Where are you developers?
You say you'll try to interact more with the community, but then proceed to disregard the comment. We are not asking for a lot. Just pop in regularly, say a few things, take a few minutes of your day to do anything that signals that you are here. It's not hard! Especially now that StoriumEdu is released, I don't understand why this is so difficult. I suggest you check out the Hidden Community thread in the forums as well.
I am very grateful for what you've created, but come on! How hard is it? We're just asking for some interaction!…

Chatbox
I thought it might be interesting to suggest an inbuilt chatbox on the side of the screen or Pop out chatbox that online users could use and chat while they were online.
I understand that there are other places like Discord and slack being used, but these things usually require an added program.
A pop out chat box is a feature built into Web coding (which I don't need to point out to the coding gods) But it would give people a place to hang that are online and waiting between moves or just chilling and reading. it would be…7 votes -
More Card Slots at Character Creation
I like the way that you create characters right now, in that you pick your archetype and your strength and your weakness. But I was wondering if there was a way to pick more cards at creation. Maybe just have it be something the narrator can set when they start the game. "Players are allowed to start with this many cards."
I assume that once the game starts a player can accumulate any number of cards, but starting off with a couple more could change the tone of the game... and being able to start with five cards would make…

Add more info about the setting at character creation
When I was invited to the game, it wasn't very clear what was going on in the setting that was chosen. I guess I am supposed to help invent the setting by adding facts and establishing things in my character's bio, but it wasn't clear that this is how it's supposed to work (I just know that's generally how it goes in story games). I think it would be better if there were either more info about the chosen setting or if there were more guidance about how story games work for first time players and the extent of their…
6 votesThank you for the feedback, that’s really helpful perspective. Agree we need to do more here. There’s (usually) more context available as part of the fictional world you’re playing in, but we’re perhaps not showing enough of it to the new player. You also make a good point about the player’s agency over their character and the setting itself; we are looking for ways to make that clearer to newcomers!

add a homepage for games in which I am a player.
As games grow, it would be really useful to be able to click on the game I play in and, instead of being brought directly into a scene, instead be brought to the game's homepage. The homepage would be the name, game blurb, list of player characters, and then the list of scenes within that game. That will also make it easy to go back and reread things that have happened, keep up with scenes in which I am not playing, and refresh myself on character bios.
I do really like the "play" button attached to games I belong to,…

Character bio text needs to be visible in popup under the cast list
There is a small free form bio section attached to each player character. It would be nice if that was shown in the rollover popup for the Cast area.
I noticed this was marked completed as in Alpha 2, but I don't see it on the rollover.
6 votesThanks for the feedback. In Alpha 2 we have added more character info to the popups, but you’re right that the bio is still not shown. This is mostly a space consideration, because bios can be quite long (and many are). We’ll noodle on how we might be able to fit this in…

Link public commentary to the time of moves
Reading the excellent The Lady Vanishes is enhanced by the backchannel-like discussion/commentary, but it isn't clear when moves are being commented on, or 'spoiled' in the commentary. An optional or unobtrusive indicator of the link in time between the two sets of text would be great.

Recent Activity Feed
Add a recent activity feed on the story page.
You already send emails when someone edits a response or character, why not just add an activity feed right below the commentary? I'm not always on my email and sometimes it can be hard to tell when someone has made an edit to their move. It would be really nice to see a live updating feed of recent activities so I know if someone made a move or an edit.

Challenges Met Meta
Ability to see all the challenges met by a character when their name is clicked on and brought to the full-screen page. If someone completed something in CH. 1 and it is brought back in CH. 3 it would be easier to reference instead of having to click back.

Allow the Narrator to Upload a Photo Pool
This would allow the Narrator to furnish a consistent pool of photos for the players to draw their cards from. For example, as it is, you could end up with a mix of black-and-white and color pictures, photo realistic portraits and manga-style characters, photos of actors and sketches the players did themselves. It's a visual nightmare.
If the narrator could furnish a pool of consistent photos, it would allow for a very visually cohesive game. And it would speed up character creation too!

Trap Cards
Something that looks like an asset but becomes an obstacle when picked up. It'd work well for many different situations and would be a fun little trick for the narrator to use.
