  3. export function

    HI,

sorry, this may be redundant but is there a function for exporting finished games/stories as pdf for archival purposes? I'm hosting a side-campaign of an original rp here, and this would be killer for our group - so that other members can catch up and for my personal reference as a dm.

  4. Allow Narrators to adjust the number of cards in a published obstacle

Seems there is no way to adjust the number of cards in an obstacle after the scene has been published. That can be a problem if you over or underestimated player participation, and are having a hard time meeting the challenge (and thus progressing the game).

Narrators are now able to adjust the number of cards needed for an obstacle as long as it does not force-complete the challenge. Thanks!

  5. …have cast cards flow under page header.

Currently, in Google Chrome for Mac, the cast widget flows up OVER the Storium header, where the rest of the content flows UNDER the page header. Attached screenshot for your review.

  6. Change notifications to display character name

In the notifications side bar (and the update emails, for that matter), I'd rather see the character name than the player's handle.

"The Captain" made a move in <GAME>

    rather than

    @willow made a move in <GAME>

  7. View Character Thumbnail info by clicking on Picture on the posts

On especially long threads (which is more likely to occur in games with more than 4 players) it is tricky to find the cast (all the way at the top of the page) when you are making a post (all the way at the bottom of the page). Is it possible to make the avatars on the posts clickable?

  8. Export characters to different stories

It would be super neat if characters could somehow be "exported" from a concluded story for inclusion in a different story.

So say I've got a character, Alice in a game, playing happily for ages, and you've got a character, Bob in another game, playing happily for ages. We decide we want our friend Eve to start a new game with our old characters- rather than starting a new "level 1" character, it would be cool to bring over the old character's deck into a new game.

Yes, I know this is not trivial. :)

  9. Track number of cards spent in a scene

After spending my third card in a scene, I don't remember seeing a notification that I was "spent." Having this notification, and a counter of cards left to play per character (maybe near the Challenges summary at the top of a scene) would be helpful.

  10. Add player damage

Right now there is nothing aside from story to represent a player getting hurt. Maybe add in damage cards that randomly replace cards in the player's pool. So if a player gets shot, the narrator gives them a "Gunshot Wound" card (wound cards should be customizable too), that will replace, at random, one of their strength or weakness cards. They now have to use that card just as they would have to use a weakness card to get a refresh. When they refresh, if the wound card is still active, it again replaces one of their chosen strength/weakness cards at…

  11. A way to link to other users as "friends"

That way, a game can be set to "Private (friends only)" or "Private (players only)" so that friends who are not in the game cans till see it, if you want them to.

  12. Allow players to have "secret" scenes with a storyteller/player or a handful of players.

A few scenes might be best handled without everyone seeing them until the end; if we could hide certain scenes from the group, play them through to develop character background, and then have them revealed at the end of the game for the group to see, that would be a great option.

  13. Home Screen Shows Games with Recent Activity

The home screen's static list of Games You're Running and Games You're Playing is less than helpful.

It would much, much more useful if the games were listed in order of most recent activity. Bonus if you can highlight or otherwise indicate that there has been activity on this game since I last viewed its page. That way, when I come to storium.com I can see at a glance what games need my attention.

  14. Refresh Cards as a Move (instead of at top of scene)

Refreshing your cards with no attached fiction seems really strange and hollow. This is a chance for your character to change, grow, and develop, and as such, should make an appearance in the story. I'd like to write the bits where my character realizes that they need to change tack, shift priorities, or confront their heretofore hidden character flaws.

I suppose this also applies to completing a Goal and completing a Subplot, although I haven't got there yet, myself.

  15. Play non-Strength, non-Weakness cards on top of Strength and Weakness cards

I'm never quite sure what to do with Assets, Goals, and Subplots. Talking with Judson last night, he had a neat suggestion.

Instead of playing up to three cards of any type on any challenge, make it so that players can play a Strength or a Weakness and then play Assets, Goals, or Subplots on top of that Strength or Weakness.

The move always swings the result towards a Strong or Weak outcome, but it swings it by the number of cards. So if I play a Strength, an Asset, and a Subplot, that's +3 for Strong outcome.

    This allows…

  16. Remove Scenes from the Mechanics of the Game

In discussion with another player last night, we were reflecting on some of the hitches we're seeing with Storium. Games lag repeatedly (and I suspect: wither and die), and often because scenes are a problem. We've seen a number of games where a single big challenge meant that the players couldn't successfully complete all the challenges in a scene (especially if one player wasn't feeling it), and games where GMs continue scenes that should have changed...

Currently, a Narrator has a challenge limit per scene, players have card play limits per scene, refreshes and bonus wilds are between scenes. I…

  17. add a "direct to narrator" action.

Not all players are going to be cooperative and it might make for an interesting story if players could do actions the other players can't see. ie. Sneaky stuff.

If there is a way to do this already and I haven't seen it, I would love to know.

btw...I love this site. Great idea!

  19. Make card limits more flexible.

1.Allow the narrator to set the card use per scene limit on a per scene limit.

e.g. The narrator can allow players to only play 2 cords per scene or 4 cards per scene

    1. Allow the narrator to set per challenge limits

e.g. The narrator sets the scene limit to 3 cards but sets the challenge limit to 2. Players can play a maximum of 3 cards in the scene but cannot play more than 2 cards on a given challenge.

    Define challenge rewards

The narrator can set hidden cards as a reward for the completing the challenge with a…

Narrators are now able to set the scene card limits on a scene by scene basis, allowing all players anywhere from 1-5 card plays in each scene.
